    I had no idea he only had a year left though to be honest, if he doesn't get offered a new contract I think he will probably retire <laugh>

    Ah whatever, don't really care if he gets released. He should go to the SPL, if Kris Boyd could be so awesome there.. imagine what Shola could do! <yikes>

    Shola in the SPL would be frightening <yikes> I can just see him now breaking all previous records and winning the league with Motherwell

    I bet many Championship/SPL teams would take him with open arms and more and more players are heading off to China/Arab nations for the $$$. Mind can't see Shola going there.

    He actually says talks havent yet begun. I think he'll be fairly easy to negotiate with and will sign a 2 year extension or something, but we wont deal with it until more pressing issues like Enrique are dealt with.

    I think I'm in a vast minority these days, but for me with Sholas likely low wage I'm quite happy to keep him around as back up and let him see out his career with us. He's showed the same loyalty that Steve Harper has but has actually made a decent number of appearances along with it, and outside the top 4 or 5 I don't think there are many better backup strikers. I know he's hit and miss but he does score goals, he loves the club (which I don't usually mention but its nice to have a few Geordies in the team now that Amys jumped ship) and has played through pain countless times when we've had injury crises. I think he'd boss the Championship (the first few games before injury for us gave glimpses of that) but I'm much happier to keep him round for the cups, backup, and the derby...
