Ben Arfa may be all of those things that you said, but he still contributed more to our team over the last 3 years than any of our other players. Cabella I like and think will become top class given time, but don't blame Carver. He at least plays Cabella, unlike Pardew who had already written him off and refused to start him. Perez will play week in week out for a Champions League club in a couple of years, too.
This maybe shows how far we've fallen, because I thought we were thoroughly decent last night.

I wrote that at about 30 mins in, you improved a bit after that, considerably in fact. It couldn't get much worse.

Janmaat is a great signing by the way.

Ah OK, yeah the first 30 weren't great but still far less turgid than we have been.
I'm amazed we got Janmaat, he showed his quality in the World Cup. Playing completely out of position at the moment too of course. Another who would walk into a top 4 team.

I reckon Van Gaal rates him mate, I'm not sure if Valencia's in his long term plan either. He's head and shoulders above the rest of your back four and it shows every game.

    Far, far better than Debuchy.

I was unbelievably jealous when you signed Adam Johnson and then Giaccherini but look how that turned out haha.
He'd be a perfect fit for you lot mate as he is competent defensively but absolutely loves to get forward. He's our top assister this season. Van Gaal knowing him and all I'd be surprised if it doesn't happen at some point.

AJ has been a great signing for us mate. He hasn't been a world beater but for the past few seasons his goals and assists have kept us up.

In retrospect if we'd spent £20m on him it would have been value for money. Without him we'd have gone down, no doubt about it.

Gyan after that world cup and Giack after that confederates cup have been massively underwhelming signings. They looked top class.

I'd agree with that mate, I think LVG likes Clyne but of the two I think Janmaat is the more 'ready' candidate.

He might stick with Antonio though as first choice, who knows.

Aside from Liverpool who have Glen Johnson I can't see another 'top 4' team buying him off you this summer.

Be interesting to see how you build this summer Ashley isn't stupid, he won't not invest. Same with Short if Sunderland stay up, I think they'll change the way they buy this summer, they have to start turning profits in players.

Getting away from your obvious excitement and getting back to the OP, would you let John O'Shea cut your lawn?

Would I ****, he'd be climbing through my conservatory window to get at my drinks fridge before he's even opened the shed.

Seriously? He needs to up his game but you have no other options, competition is key.

You finally got round to buying your own..<ok>

Seriously I agree, the man leading the pack is like the last man you'd want leading anything. He's done well out of Sunderland, it's a shame as a fan I can't say the same..

Aye not saying he hasn't been good but I expected him to go on and be an England regular. Really underwhelmed me.
Van Gaal would be mental to stick with Valencia. What he's achieved this year with that defence, just shows if he sorts it out you should be right up there fighting for the title.
We'll definitely invest, probably have a decent enough season next year, the problem is all us NUFC fans know anyone we buy who might impress next season will be touted to any club that will listen. It's a boring and demoralising cycle.

That doesn't make him a decent player, not by any means.

Was in Poland 3 years ago and he wasn't up to scratch then and thought he was finished but Trap kept playing him.As a ROI supporter I feel his time is up and Dunne who was a better player did the honourable thing and retired.O'Neill falling into the same old trap and playing people just because who they are,Clarke(Villa) and Delaney(Palace) should be our centre halves, they may not be playing for good teams but playing every week against quality but who am I ...
