What a tit. Easy to say in hindsight. So I take it he is a millionaire from all the correct football bets he has put on in the last 23 years.
Liverpool: Man City opened door to top four, says Brendan Rodgers Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers believes Manchester City's Premier League struggles have "opened the door" to the Reds' hopes of Champions League qualification. Monday's 2-0 home win over Newcastle moved Rodgers's men four points off the top four with six games to go. "We feel we have every chance," he said. "Of course, we're looking for other teams to slip up. "I am sure there will be plenty of twists and turns to come." He added: "We're going to fight until the very end. As we saw last year there can be a lot of changes." Goals in each half from Raheem Sterling and Joe Allen at Anfield ensured Liverpool took full advantage of City's derby defeat at Manchester United the previous day. The only way Liverpool can finish fourth is by winning all their games, and City losing two games or losing 1 and two draws.
That's ******ed, it's clearly more like 25% To score it must go in, but to not score you can either hit it too wide, too high, or have it saved So about 1/4 chance, ignoring low probability possibilities like it being saved then spinning over the line while the GK is celebrating
More predictable still doesn't mean completely predictable Plus you're ignoring the key fact that bookies adjust odds accordingly so that something becoming more predictable means you don't win as much by betting on it Anyway I have't read his stuff so not claiming his claims are correct

Even if you assume his study is correct, the league overall being more predictable does not make it any less competitive at the top end, which is what we were talking about. Nice try, but a #fail
Indeed A bet on Real or Barca at the beginning of a La Liga season to win the title will have much shorter odds than for any PL team I would wager. I just cannot understand people who champion that league. It is literally, outside of El Classico and sometimes Athletico, the most boring league ever. Like SPL levels of boring. You can say thats a subjective comment, but still, the world agrees with me when you see how many people watch the EPL compared to La Liga. La Liga has a fraction of the fanbase.
It was only a suppliment to the cold hard fact that one club in the PL has won 10 more titles than their nearest rival since 92 where as in la Liga one club has 3 more than the nearest rival since 92. To deny that the title spread is more in Spain is an epic failing It's funny tho, you have you, and Bo, and yer man Goddard, an economist who spent years studying and working doing what he does and he researched it, he would be an expert in statistical analysis but you and Bod armchair football experts know better, and that is sadly the modern internet these days, full of experts who have no field of expertise that relates to what is being discussed, just grossly overinfalted valuations of their own opinions with absolutely NOTHING to back it up. The modern internet expert indeed It is not my opinon that La Liga has been less predictable and more competitive since 92, it's a fact.
The saddest thing about you internet experts is that the more people that agree with you the more certain you are right #thatjustisnotso
It's far less than 25% mate. Speed of the ball and everything comes into play here. There are so many factors that putting a ratio on it is difficult, then you have to take into account the keeper and the peno taker, the individuals themselves. So it's not a fixed equation that fits all. If the ball is struck with a certain power, the chances of saving it dimish drastically, but the chance of accuracy is reduced, things like that make it hard to asses. Just blurting out oh it's 50\50 like UIR did and then try to defend that is only the outcome is 50\50 it will be a goal or no goal, as in after the fact, what was it goal or no goal, a blind bet persay, but not the actual event itself. The odds for example of a keeper saving a top corner peno are huge, the odds of a player managing to find the top corner, not so huge. Take the worlds best keeper and the worlds most average striker, and odds are still heavily in favour of the average striker.
For you Bod, seeing as you like to refer to the points gap. Lets associate that with money, so, take Real and Barca spending and the big gap between next in the table, I bet the spending gap is huge. So it's like comparing Swansea to Chelsea.. what is the points gap between Chelsea and Swansea? 26 points. The PL happens to have much more money spread around and there are teams in between but they are all 100m spenders if only occasionally so Swansea to Chelsea is a fair comparison to Real and normally the much less better off points wise 3rd place in La Liga, Ateltico being the exception. This explains why the same teams win hte titles but the others manage to get closer than their La Liga counterparts, but it does not change the title spread one jot, being 8 or 28 points behind the league leader makes no difference. So, it's a false impression you are giving by comparing the points gap between Real and Bilbao say, and comparing Chelsea and say Arsenal or Spurs or City or United cos those teams are much better financially equipped to stay closer to the league leaders, the money distribution in La Liga is not so even I know exactly where this nonsense view comes from. The last decade. There has been a better spread in the PL. 3 winners and all with 2 titles at least. Where Spain has also had 3 but Real and Barca picked up 9 of them and Atletico 1. So since 2004\05 there has been a better titles spread in the PL in that time, but unfortunately for you guys, football was around before 2004\05 and this debate is from 92 and since 92, the PL has had one team blow the others away, where as Spain has had two teams blow the others away. Any logical mind comes to the conclusion that the Spanish league has been more competitive, that is to say, the same team winning the league happened a lot less than in the PL. FACKT!
If you want to go back even further. 9 teams have won La Liga in its entire history. Compared to the 22 teams who have won the English league (in both guises). Real and Barca have won 54 out of 85 La Liga titles between them. Thats ridiculous! Compare that to the leading title winners in England. United and Liverpool have win 38 out of 122 English leagues between them........... And you still want to tell me Spanish football is more competitive?
in fact I just looked at La Liga, no wonder you used 2012 points gap Bod . This season 13 points between 5th and 1st. PL there is 16 points between 5th and 1st and Valencia Sevilla and Atletico do not have the spending power of the PL's 3rd 4th and 5th plus Spain's top two are better than the PL top two, by a margin. it just destroys the arugment the PL is more competitive
I'll take a leaf from Tobes' book please log in to view this image No matter what way you put it the PL being more competitive is a fallacy. A complete fallacy, in fact what is impressive is that 3rd 4th 5th placed La Liga clubs have managed to do as well as they have without the kind of money PL 3rd 4th and 5th placed clubs get.
In fact Barca, La Liga leader, have lost more games than the PL leader Chelsea Barca have lost 4 Chelsea 2. Real have lost 6. Yet you all think that La Liga is easier for Barca and Real, even though they have lost 10 games between them Chelsea 2 and Arsenal 6, 8 losses. Give me a ****ing break lads I've done enough to bust this stupid myth. I'm out.
Yes. It is impressive how half the league have almost bankrupted themselves in trying compete with Barcelona and Madrid. Only Atletico have ever properly recovered from their own near demise but others to this day struggle.
