I refute the idea that you need less sleep as you get older.:( When young I used to manage very well on four or five hours, but these days six minimum and preferably seven. The days that we have our main meal at midday(traditional here) the afternoon is wasted as a bit of a nod goes down quite well.

    Morning all

Cloudy but dry here. As far as the sleep debate goes, I find the older I get I still sleep roughly the same number of hours, I just wake up more frequently.

I have a different perspective on the sleep debate as I'm epileptic and if I get over-tired, I run a higher risk of a stay in Jersey General for a couple of nights.

    Thanks for coffee Ak

I agree with you OFH - I need far more sleep than when I was of "party age" :)

Wasn't Mrs Thatcher who used to get by with about 4 hours sleep per night<yikes> My good lady was actually ahead of herself when she moved to France as she always has a snooze in the afternoon<laugh> When I am on nights I try and snooze in the afternoon but it does not always work out like that!

It was the Iron Lady herself. Not very encouraging when you think what's happened since!

There is the old Servicemens adage, sleep and eat when you can, cause you don't know when the next time will be. Saying that if I snooze in the afternoon at the weekend it spoils my night time sleep:( But the wife could have 3 hours plus in the afternoon then always sleep at night<yikes> Yes I am envious<laugh>

Well i generally only sleep when i am tired which is why i end up awake till the small hours of the morning. But i have been known to survive on as little as 2 hours and be fine the next day.
