    Profile:
Liverpool continued their recruitment drive for the 2014-15 season by landing powerful centre-back Dejan Lovren from Southampton.

The Croatian international boasts a gleaming CV, which includes Champions League and World Cup experience.

Strong, dominant in the air and offering a composed presence, Lovren also boasts great leadership qualities, which helped him make a rapid rise to playing top-level football.

Born in the town of Zenica, on July 5 1989, Lovren began his youth career at NK Karlovac. By 2004 he had alerted the attention of Dinamo Zagreb after impressing their academy coach whilst playing against them.

Indeed, such was his rise to prominence, he was even included in their senior squad shortly before his 17th birthday.

Surplus to requirement at the end of the season

    Offer starts from £M15

Thought he was alright yesterday, won a few tackles and headers and made one brilliant sliding interception.

Obviously got lucky with the penalty though.

He was awful, tackle apart. Even headed an easy clearing header to a newcastle player in our own area. Clumsy, poor awareness and that poor awareness gives him less time on the ball, he puts too much pressure on hiimself never mind the opposition. He's out of his depth

he's an accident waiting to happen but with Skrtel and Sahko out, we had no choice, personally I'd rather play Stering at CB than Lovren <laugh>

Did mig call for that one? We don't know... I'd rather if he had no shout that he tried to head it clear than risk leaving is (like Sakho against Blackburn)

Some players just can't handle the pressure, Downing was def better at other clubs, so, the issue is downing and why he couldn't produce same at Liverpool.
