Have I really just read a thread in which someone claimed O'Shea was fouled for the 4th goal, and others championed making Adam Johnson captain <laugh>
IP address bans for all involved imo.

What's wrong with AJ being captain after he gets cleared - hypothetically speaking?

Who'd you choose? Bearing in mind the comments before that where Cattermole is discounted and O'Shea gets taken out back and shot.

Didn't Michael Owen captain your team at one point?

Larsson would therefore be my choice. Yes he was our captain. Guess what happened...... :(

Went off injured at half time and got replaced by Lard Viduka.

That would be right. Shafted the mags good and proper.

Fit enough to play for England but not for them.

iirc he was on stupid wages.

Haha he's a United hero for that derby goal, he hated you lot though.

He cared more about Stoke than Newcastle <laugh>

AJ is neither the best player (not that imo that should be the criteria for captaincy) nor is he in any way captain material. He's a shy little fairy with fancy footwork.

Yes Owen did captain us once, horrifically so and we got relegated, not sure what the point is there <laugh>

For me Larsson, Rodwell, Pantilimon are all better options. But in reality they need to buy a tough, no nonsense centre half and give him the armband. Role of captain is under estimated in football nowadays imo, as proven my Kane getting it at Spurs. Look at Newcastle. Our captain and vice captain are Coloccini and Sissoko. The 2 biggest bottlers in football. Can't be a coincedence.

Come on now QWOP be realistic. We might scrape a 1-0 defeat, provided we get a few decisions off the ref.

It's often a way to get players to step up and dig deep though, it's nothing more than an ct of solidarity for AJ in my scenario by the way, I'm not suggesting he's Roy Keane or anything.

I mentioned Owen captaining you because it was funny.

You sold your only worthy captain to PSG last year. He is the only top class player to have played for you under Ashley's ownership I'd say.

If the captaincy is reduced to a token gesture to get prima donna's to knuckle down then that's bad news for the club imo.

I'd agree with that although even Cabaye refused to play for us, hardly inspiring is it? I'd throw Ba and Ben Arfa in as top class players, arguably Debuchy too. None are captain material though.

I wouldn't. Top class player, Ben Arfa? He's a ****ing goose. Barely put any effort in he was essentially just one of those freestylers with no capability of playing in a team sport.
Ba is by no means a top class player and Debuchy was and still is just another right back.

Cabaye I'd take at United even now.

Cabella is the closest you've got to another, but judging his fall from grace from last season I'd say he's being battered by the fat kebab you pass off as a manager, he's ruined him.
