I saw it on the box; their coach was behaving like the kid in class that no one likes and everyone wants to get their comeuppance one day. He was given a ban last season for his behaviour at a home game. I don't know his name and am not really interested in finding out. Obviously the guy who puts the cones out for Jose and has a got a bit too big for his boots.

I totally agree. After the Chelsea goal, I just sat back, stunned. I wouldn't have dreamed of throwing things, even if I could have reached that far!

Throwing missiles did rather tarnish an otherwise excellent performance by our team and our fans. I was disappointed when I heard of this.

A lifetime ban seems a bit much for throwing a plastic bottle. Silly thing to do but does it really warrant never, ever being able to go to Loftus Road (at least legally) again? Not for me.

I'd tend to agree about the plastic bottles but, apparently, there were coins and a lighter as well. These could cause serious damage. In dealing with this in a practical manner, you can't separate the throwing of plastic bottles (OK) and coins (not OK): they have to be treated the same i.e. throwing anything onto the pitch cannot be tolerated and must be punished severely.

I don't disagree but it has to be severe enough to act as a punishment and a deterrent. Next time it could cause a serious injury to a man just doing his job.

A season ban and some sort of anger management or community service should be a minimum. Clubs and the P.L need to set examples with things like this given it's a global product nowadays, millions of kids watching etc.

I still don't think any of the above justifies a lifetime ban. A season, yeah sure, maybe even more but it's just not fitting for the crime to ban for life IMO for almost anything.

Even the Paris guys?! Surely they should be banned for life?

Can't disagree with that: a lifetime ban would be a bit much, especially for someone throwing a programme or a plastic bottle but it needs to be sufficient to discourage the sort of moron who joins in and throws coins etc.

How can a lifetime ban (or even a season long one for that matter) actually be imposed sensible? Surely you just turn up to a game (perhaps especially an away game), pay in cash and there you go.
    Am I missing something?

Difficult one. On the one hand what they did was obviously deplorable but it didn't actually happen at the game or as part of any sort of organised official Chelsea transport so I don't know if it's right to be treated as a football issue. If those same half a dozen or however many it was blokes were on holiday in France while an England game was on in Paris and did that, would they be banned from England matches?

I guess the club had to do something and no one is going to argue with banning racists but I think some sort of community service would've been a more constructive punishment. No idea if that happened or not to be honest.

I get your point, but then I don't like the idea of those idiots in my clubs ground every week spreading their bullshit and making our club look bad!

In reality it can't, especially if we're in the lower leagues and it's possible to rock up and pay on the day. Even if not, if a friend buys it I don't see how it can be policed. All it really does is stop you officially being a season ticket holder.

Course not, but then I guess you could apply that to various things in theory.

Possibly by CCTV. Saw the last part of some TV programme from a ground (not sure where) where they had some bloke they didn't want under very close view. I suppose with good enough equipment and investment in some extra hours they could identify anyone coming in they didn't want.

I agree that these 'fans' should be brought to book, but Fabregas was foolish in the extreme for celebrating in that corner and could be accused of provocation. On a slightly different note, the BBC have issued a picture on their website of a number of objects thrown onto the pitch, one of which is a 'bottle'. What they fail to say is that it is a PLASTIC bottle. Never let the facts get in the way eh, BBC?

Can you actually tell anything from that angle in fairness? Looks like he is just getting closer to some of the players to celebrate to me.

Happy to be proven wrong but can't see anything wrong in that at all from that clip.

Tim Sherwood does similar practically every time his teams score.

Unfortunately, I agree with the Chelsea lad. That video is inconclusive.

I still think the Chelsea players were very irresponsible to deliberately celebrate in such a provocative manner and I expect ourselves and Chelsea to be brought to book by the F.A. over what happened. We failed to control our fans and they failed to control their players.

One man's moron is another mans passionate manager (or coach) I guess.

I'm sure had roles been reversed you'd have not battered an eye lid or applauded the passion etc.

Quite enjoy Sherwood myself, especially now he's not at Spurs ;)
