QPR midfielder hints he will stay at club - one way or the other 22:30, 11 April 2015 By Paul Warburton Boy from Brazil happy to be a Ranger Sandro insists he did the right thing joining QPR – even given the current crisis. The Brazilian comes up against a clutch of his countrymen lunchtime Sunday determined to prove his choice of club last summer was the right one. This is the former Tottenham player's first relegation battle, and one in which he has been largely absent through injury. But though his Samba-loving pals down the road are enjoying the fruits of Chelsea, Sandro insists he has no regrets joining Rangers instead of the likes of European giants Zenit St Petersburg. In fact, he rather likes the feeling of his broad back up against the wall. “I like it, you know. We’re now in a situation where we have to win and it’s exciting,” he said. “I’ve never been in this situation and it’s a new experience. I have to take it in a good way, and now I know all about the pressure of every game (like the last two against West Brom and Aston Villa). You know, it’s like If we don’t win this, we’re gone. I can see the faces on the pitch and everyone is fighting to stay up. “I feel good playing like this. I can see the real QPR fighting now.” please log in to view this image Belief: Clint Hill scores at Villa. Sandro joins in the celebration Sandro thinks he will be a Ranger next season one way or the other, although as might be imagined, he would prefer it was taking the Premier League to task rather than getting on the bus to Huddersfield. He added: “I’m a QPR player, you know. I’m here and I’ve got to fight, and no one is thinking about next season.” What he is thinking about is gaining revenge for Tottenham’s 4-0 humiliation at the hands of Chelsea last March, as well as Rs’ narrow 2-1 defeat to the Blues in November. “We played Chelsea there and we know how good the atmosphere was, so you can imagine what it will be like at home. Can we make it tough for Chelsea? Of course, man - you have to challenge.” Action Images / Alex Morton please log in to view this image Foot in: QPR's Sandro in action with West Brom's Saido Berahino One battle is already decided. If it comes to football’s version of The Voice, it’s QPR’s by a distance. Sandro loves playing guitar, and often has Chelsea pals Oscar and Ramires back to his place. But when it comes to singing, the Blues are all bum notes. “We’re friends outside the pitch, but not on it,” Sandro added. “I know Oscar and Ramires and I see them at home. I play, but they cannot sing.”
Mmmmm sounds like he is more interested in music than football. This lad owes us a good performance. Today is the day we need it Sandro
How about for once we just be happy a player wants to stay, instead of assuming he just wants the money?!
He might want to stay, but I don't think it's a realistic option. He's on too much money and he's a player we could get a fee for. We'd have to sell him.
From what I heard the fee was closer to 6 million, although I have no idea what wages he is on I very much doubt it's as much as some people think, I thought we were due to get rid of the rest of the 'big' contracts this summer (oh except for Adels). Was really good against chelsea and I'm hoping to see more from him this season and next
I heard the £6m figure too. He played very well yesterday. I know he's been injured, but it's a bit irritating that, as a 26 year old, he still can't last a whole match. Should imagine we kearned to put a relegation clause in his contract.
It is incredible that it has taken him so long to both get and stay fit (if he is fit that is!). He has been playing well since the Spurs game (part from Everton match when he was their twelfth man) and I would not doubt his commitment. Not sure he would fancy the championship; his style of play would suit a lot of Italian/Spanish teams.
