The recent international break gave an excited Divock Origi the perfect opportunity to quiz compatriot Simon Mignolet on exactly what to expect when he makes the move to Liverpool this summer.
Nine months have passed since the Reds sealed a deal with Lille to sign the Belgian international striker, who had been tracked by the club for a number of years before the switch was arranged.
Part of the transfer involved Origi remaining with the French side on loan for the current season and he has contributed seven league goals so far - including four in his last three appearances.
With the campaign nearing a conclusion, though, it won't be long before the 19-year-old sets up residence on Merseyside and begins to hone his natural goalscoring ability under Brendan Rodgers.
"When I spoke to him about the pre-season tour, the city, the club, Anfield and the supporters, he was really excited to come over," Mignolet explained to Liverpoolfc.com.

'Divock is excited by LFC challenge'

"I have spoken with him a fair few times about next season, pre-season and how he is going to settle in - not only at the club, but also in the city.
"He is looking forward to the pre-season tour and asked me what that's about because he's heard many things about that, and I told him no different.
"He's looking forward to next season and I think he'll be ready for the team when he comes in."
Much in the way that Lucas Leiva helped Philippe Coutinho acclimatise to England, and Jose Enrique has supported Spanish recruits, Mignolet plans to be a go-to guide for Origi.
The goalkeeper is keen to ensure his international teammate can hit the ground running upon his arrival, though he equally highlighted the forward's depth of experience already.
"I'll always be there if he needs me," said the No.22. "But he's more than mature enough, he has played professional football since he was very young and he is an international footballer, so that will help.
"I'm sure he's got more than enough experience. But if he needs a helping hand, I'll always be ready to help him out."
Origi drew acclaim for his performances at the World Cup in Brazil a year ago, with Liverpool overcoming serious competition to successfully capture his signature.
Mignolet added: "He's only a young player but I'm sure, from what I've seen in training with him, that he's a very good player and will do really well for us.
"He's very quick, he's got skill, he can hold the ball up and score a goal as well - what else do you want from a striker?
"He's got a good attitude to work hard in training, which is always important; he's willing to learn and accepts advice. I can only speak in good terms about him."

So in other words this is propaganda about next season... Bigging up a "new" recruit already

I don't mind that of course as its to be expected. It does focus on him getting a few goals recently compared to awful time earlier so I'm sure we will be seeing more moves up front during sumner

Excited to see him. No doubt has a lot of raw ability and already very experienced for a 19 ye old.

By far the finished article but his pace and movement should really suit us.

Origi in and Sterling out for a good fee. Then use the money wisely, may not be all that bad. If Sterling does not want to play for us (whether it's due to money or ambition) then get rid. No team does well with players who would rather be elsewhere, but we should not give him away cheaply.

With Ibe back fit and if Sturridge can avoid injury( I know big if) then things will not look to bad for next season.

Origi will provide a good back option next season but we still need to bring in another first choice option.

FFS don't tell RHC,he might fall over and hurt himself

Origi hasn't had the best of seasons although I think Lille have struggled as a whole.

Difficult to see the ultimate potential in a young player sometimes,we'll see how he gets on next season

I have watched them play a lot and Origi offers nothing different to a Borini tbh. We need quality and he isn't it.

Hes 19 and offers a lot more pace than Borini.

Hes raw from what I've seen in clips and at the WC but not many 19 yr olds have the experiment he does so must have something about him to be able to get into a very good Belgium squad.

Found this on EOTK, he's not exactly setting the French League on fire.

Striking prodigy Divock Origi voted second most overrated player in Ligue 1

Divock Origi is due to return to Anfield later this year…

A number of Liverpool fans have already pinned their hopes of success next season on young striker Divock Origi hitting the ground running following his loan spell with Lille.

Lille are possibly the most boring team across the leagues - they don't create anything so I'm not surprised he hasn't scored many.

But Tobes swears by stats and that;s all he looks at - disregard potential, movement, intelligence, or any other key skills.

Should have brought him into the fold after the World Cup, he'd had a good tournament and considering Sturridges injury I can't understand us buying a player the loaning him back to the selling club and contributing to his wages there.

I think the reason we got him for such a good deal was because Lille could keep him for another season. <ok>

Agree - he would have been a decent option for us rather than Borini or Lambert.

Oh right so it's Lille's fault his scoring ratio is mince, gotcha.

How foolish of me to even think that it might reflect his actual ability.

Maybe I'd also based my view on the fact that I've actually watched him twice this season when we played them, and he looked like he couldn't hit a cows arse with a banjo

Ah right - so you've watched 2 games of his throughout his whole career? I presume you have watched Lille play all season also?

This is I will never take you seriously pal. <ok>

How about the French voting him the 2nd most over rated player in Ligue 1?

I suppose they're all uneducated and can't see this lads supreme talent, just like that other 'elite talent' you spoke reams of ****e about before we saw that he was a headless chicken <laugh>
