Col, I loved your words on Green. Earlier this season I posted that he must be candidate for POTY but I've subsequently re-assessed that opinion. His kicking today was awful, with four or five atrocious ones. It was like he wanted to give them a chance. A fumble I might learn to live with but an EPL professional goalkeeper who kicks so poorly.... nah!

Oh and btw, unlike you, I thought Phillips was very good (as did the BBC report).

Deeply gutted today for us personally but also for footie. Had we held them to a draw or even won (which we could have done), it would have made the top a lot more interesting.
I hope I'm not alone in feeling sorry for Greeno as well as frustrated with him. He was under no pressure and could have place the ball even if only to waste a bit more time.
Tragic but agree that it was great to watch our team do its job so well.
I'm told the Sky reported was left pondering how come we are in the drop zone. Thanks Harry!!

Good performance, but couldn't you have held on for a few more measly minutes?

Chelsea play Utd next week, then Arsenal away. We could still have had a title race <grr>

Well telling QPRCate to wind her neck in was unnecessary or have you forgotten that you posted that? By all means Swords debate but don't go winding people up.....it's quite easy really.

Ok maybe this is my fault for saying Swords was winding up Col, again. I think sometimes Swords its just the way you say things, you are entitled to think that Philips was best player today and far play to you. But please don't attack Col and I just coz we chose to disagree that we saw things differently.

Ok. On Phillips, I admit that I don't see the same player as most on here. He missed a sitter and didn't bother to chase back on a couple of occasions. He's a big lad and yet he was out jumped in the air by two of the smallest Chelsea players on the pitch. I don't remember any great crosses and I just find him incredibly frustrating to watch. He rivals Caulker for being the dopiest player we have imo.
I've just watched the game back and Phillips is a 6 out of 10 at best.
I admit that the fact that I don't particularly rate him affects my comments on him, but he was NEVER, EVER MOTM today. Never in a million years.
I completely respect others' opinions that rate him and he has had a good run of form up till today for a few games.

On the ratings I gave, I have already said that I tend to mark down now as a lot of people, including Swords were critical of them for being too high in the past. I think 7 out of 10 is a very good mark generally and the papers usually give 6 or 7 unless someone has been particularly good or poor. Green was poor imo.
Isla, Onuoha, Barton, Sandro and Henry were all worthy of a higher mark than Phillips today IMO.

    Agreed.
If Redknapp had left earlier we would be ok by now.

Nice one Jose. I liked the way he was screaming at his own players who had sunk to the ground with a few seconds to play to waste time.

Also surprised to hear nothing about the rubbish thrown at the Chelsea players when they celebrated the goal, from the precious family area I presume. It was provocative of them to run over there in the first place and Ivanovic was especially vile, but no excuse for that. Other than that the crowd was superb, including at the end, this team must know that we are behind them.

Hats off to Ramsey, he has the team giving their all, playing the only we we can with the quality available. I felt the story was of our missed chances, we had more than Chelsea who were very disappointing (from a footballing viewpoint). Given our goals against record it would have been a miracle to keep them out, though the manner of conceding was irksome.

Shame we are running out of games.

I'll start off by saying what i always say, football is all about opinion and everyone is entitled to theirs. It's what makes our game so great. Debate is also healthy, so there is nothing wrong with calling out someone on their own opinion.

Col I happen to agree with a lot of what you say (Niko, our best formation etc), but I find your criticism of Phillips a little strange. The lad provides us with a serious outlet, has pace in abundance and has an end product (as this year has proven). The fact that you've given krancjar and Hoilett the same mark as him is completely laughable. He was no worse than many others today (with the exception of Barton and sandro, who were excellent). Attacking wise, he's probably our most serious threat at the minute. We need to create and score goals to survive. I can understand when you describe him as "dopey", but that's like me calling Clint "slow", we all know and accept that fact so why not focus on the positive? Your being too harsh on him and it's probably time you accepted that.

Moving along with the opinion theme, I disagree with many others regarding Isla today. Thought he was sloppy all game and at fault for their goal (along with green of course). Was also very poor against WBA. Needs to up his game quickly.

Overall, extremely proud of the lads today, with an extremely gut wrenching final score. Onwards and upwards

I think so too - he should have thrown in the towel before Christmas, thus providing the incoming manager with a transfer window, not that Tony was in the spending mood and also distracted following the Air Asia crash.

Absolutely fair enough mate. As you say, we all have different opinions.
    On your points:
    1) Phillips does have pace, but rarely uses it. He is quick when he gets into his stride, but that takes a long, long time. I find that he hesitates and then just tries to bundle past someone, instead of simply running at them with some pace. When he does go past someone with pace, he looks very threatening, but I just don't feel that he does that often enough. A lot of this is down to him appearing to be rather dopey; with the first couple of yards starting with speed of thought.
    2) Phillips has provided an end product in a few games...........not all year. Today, having watched the game back, he really didn't offer much by way of threatening crosses, apart from one in the first half to the back post. He also missed a golden opportunity to score.
    3) You're right about Hoilett and Kranjcar. As late subs they didn't rate a 6. Hoilett got one purely to wind Swords up!!
    4) I don't rate him as highly as most on here I'm afraid. However, I have praised him of late when he's done well.
He does have an excellent shot and I think that he would be best suited to playing in a three behind a forward. Playing wide midfield in a 4-4-2 involves serious tracking back and that's one thing that Hoilett for one does a lot better than him.
I honestly hope that Matty proves me wrong time after time.

Fair play to Jose. Although he is scum manager he knows what to say and when to say it. Good to have him in English football.
