So it's midday.. - We've heard Robbie Fowler genuinley came within a whisker of joining us. - Mason is being sold on the cheap (against his will I reckon). This is a ****e amount of money being discused when you consider the fact that Gosling went for £2million, having made just 13 league starts. - No season tickets for blocks 15-18.. i.e. THE LOUDEST SECTIONS OF THE GROUND! And 19-23 are reserved for away supporters (who in league 2 are gonna bring that many supporters? - £340 for a season ticket following 2 succesive relegations "It's not that easy being green..."
It is also 4 weeks until season starts and the preferred bidder has still not stumped up the cash!!!!!!!! 4 weeks until season starts and we still can't field a team and are still selling silver for the price of scrap iron!! Nelson next. Sooner or later the penny is going to drop with you lot that Heaney and his myseterious consortium cough..Stapleton...cough do not have and will not have the money to seal the deal and that the club is burning daylight at an alarming rate. Sensible thinks that quote "things are on the up at Homepark and that if things continue as they are I will be a happy man" - see grass greener thread yesterday. The most bizarre and surreal post I've ever seen in the history of 606. For those of you who have not seen it, there is also a remarkable post on PASOTI made by none other than Peter Jones highlighting the farce that has become the Guilfoyle/Ridsdale corrupt admin show. Read it ladies, it will make you weep.
Wow DS I sort of agree with you.. The PB has in fact (apparently) only paid £300,0000 of the £1 million owed. Sheist. Point taken BlueBird but tbh, there's a difference between playing for you guys in the CCC and us in league 2. It probs would have put bums on seats if nothing else.
That was the theroy in bringing Fowler to us, we had financial probs at the time and it was a signing to capture the imagination of the fans. He played 13 games scored 4, and was injured most of the season. He didnt play at all 2nd half of the season, he never played in one FA Cup tie that season, then demanded to be included in the FA Cup final team. Despite all that, he we offered a contract extention on a pay as you play deal, fair enough considering the previous season injury lay off, which he decided to think about. While he was considering that, Blackburn appointed Paul Ince and offered Fowler a trial, he rejected our contract and went to Blackburn, nice show of loyalty, Blackburn did not offer him a contract after the trial. Considering we stuck by him while he was injured and payed his wages, which were around 25k a week, what a kick in the teeth, especially as the guy owns alot of property and is worth a fortune anyway. Guy is totally out for himself and should be avoided like the plague.
To be fair bluebird we had that with Mpenza, £10,000 a week and spent most of the time injured or on the bench cos he was not fully fit. That was a DOH moment for Sturrock and the board. I would have liked to have had him here for one season but it seems the money offered from Thailand was just too good to resist.
Its going to be like this for a while, I really could not hazard a guess at what our starting eleven will be on the first day! Then again I have to say I do think losing out on Fowler is a blessing, the atitude would probably match the wages and I really dont think he could cut it anymore, even at this level, the mention of Mpenza on this thread would sum up Fowler if he had joined in my opinion.
Hi DS, am in Plymouth and hope you will meet up with me outside of The Samaritans at 9pm - you can make it a bit later if you wish, as it will be a little darker so as to preserve your anonimity, oh hang on - it doesn't matter as you will as arranged be wearing your flourescent pink shell suit - silly old me. Seeya later
Nicky, the poor Samaritans! they will need help after that plank has been to see them. He is probably ironing the shell suit now
Yep i suppose they are Nick, i have new had the pleasure to own one, i may see if they have any green ones about. Ds could do with drip drying!
I wrote this article at midday and only now, after a few beers have i noticed the spelling mistake in the title. I love beer
I've seen oxford utd many times seeing as though i live here. i reckon they would bring 1500 EASILY down to home park. A good set of fans, and they've got quite a decent squad behind them aswell.
Cannot see many away fans attending games at HP but then our away following has always been well above most others in our division. Strange how so few travel here yet so many travel from here ?!?
Dont forget though, one of the main reasons for this is the large number of janners / SW folk who have moved away from gods country and for who it's easier to get to away games than home games.
To be fair, we will be a relatively big fish in a small pond. It wouldn't surprise me if the likes of Crawley and AFC Wimbledon brought a few down.
