Correct me if I'm wrong but don't the majority of players zone out the crowd whilst playing professional sport. Most of em do over here, how can you concentrate on a gameplan, execution etc if your worried about a few sighs ffs.. Grow a pair of balls..

But you stopped going so how can you possibly know? (And isn't it funny that we have a positive outcome last week and it takes you a day to post and only one post... A negative game and you post 20 odd replies to the match day thread)

It was a derby game tho. Name me a club what has a class atmosphere every home game? We never get the atmosphere back from the reidy days untill we see players what give a **** about sunderland. The ****s now are only bothered about beating the mags and play well against the big boys.

Should the players rely so heavily on the supporters? Their job is to entertain and perform. We are there for enjoyment. Not to boost a bunch of egomaniacs. If they can't perform off their own steam then they should bugger off.[/QUOTE]
    Yes, totally agree QWOP.
You've nailed it there lad. <ok>

If you are relegated, would the board be bold enough and try and get "Big Sam." He would kick out the rubbish, shape a team to get promotion and ensure it is more than good enough to do well in the Premiership on its return a la West Ham!!

Our board is clueless so no I don't think we get fat Sam. I would love the bloke at sunderland tho.

If the players having to give the fans something to shout about is true how do you explain the lack of atmosphere before we even kick off? The players came out and nobody looked intrested. Everyones head was in their smart phones.

It's about time we stopped deflecting blame back and forth and just accept. **** team, **** fans. Fans help the team, the team helps the fans but in reality, nobody is helping anybody at Sunderland.

Perhaps, however it does not take much to stir the fans. A good robust challenge would rouse the crowd. A bit of effort and imagination would help too. It is just a convenient excuse that the pro's use to deflect their shoddy performances. I watch my shower of **** play and even with the fans behind them (although this is getting less and less) they still have their flip flops on.

I'd look above and at what the board and management are up to. With us, the management structure is strangling us. I suspect it is the same for you too. A regime/board level change will bring about an ethos change which will filter down into the players. The players know they can get away with ****e and they are showing it and proving it.

How can a player make a robust challenge when he's lined up side by side with his team mates before kick off? This is my point mate, we can't even get behind the team before they've kicked off which proves 100% imo that the Players aren't the only ones not pulling their weight. Is it really so hard to put your phone in your pocket and give your team the attention and support they need as they enter the field of play before they've even kicked a ball? The place should erupt. But it doesn't and hasn't for a long time, derby games and Man U ist leg aside. Fans sell us short every single home game before we even kick a ball. It's pathetic

This is where we differ I guess mate. It isn't the fans job to gee up the players in my opinion. If I went to the theater and the actors were not performing as they should be, would the paying audience be expected to gee them up and get them to perform? No chance! In fact if I witnessed a drab performance I'd demand my money back!

I agree that the atmosphere is dead at the Stadium though. When I was at the Burnley match, it was non existent until the goal. Guess what though, the goal came and it had nothing to do with the supporters. It was a pretty decent performance too from what I remember.

Really intelligent Billy. If you weren't so busy laying down your abuse you'd read that I'm on nobody's side. Try reading post 148 before you get clever because you're making yourself look a twat. Wind your neck or at least have the intelligence to read my posts and asses my stance correctly <doh>

So you telling me if you went to see your favorite band, you wouldn't get behind them as walked on stage because their last to albums wasn't great? You stand silent in Judgement would you? We're clearly different types of fans mate.
