"I am the heart and soul of this organisation, its founder, philosopher, original coder, organiser, financier and all the rest," he (Julian Assange) once said to a critic. "If you have a problem with me, piss off."

Daniel Domscheit-Berg, a 32-year-old German and effectively number two in WikiLeaks, resigned after accusing Assange of an autocratic manner and abandoning the site's founding principles. He is now starting a new site for leaks which he intends to be less sensational and less focused on the US.

"I want to start a new platform that avoids the cult of personality that surrounded Assange," he says. "I felt that he betrayed the things for which WikiLeaks should stand. There was too much hype around Assange and the political conflicts of the organisation, and less around published contents. The basic idea of the organisation was originally that the public and media get access to the information. But WikiLeaks, in deciding which parts of the media get the information, has taken sides subjectively. It has created a market where money is changing hands."

Evidence of Assange's management style were made clear in a leaked email conversation between him and Domscheit-Berg.
D-B: "You are nobody. Not the king and not God. And at the moment you are not even fulfilling your role as leader. A leader communicates and inspires confidence in people. You do the exact opposite. You behave like a slave trader."

Assange: "You are suspended immediately, valid for one month."

D-B: "Why? Who says so, for such an ad hoc decision?"

Assange: "If you want to contest that, we will speak Tuesday. Now p--s off."

"Julian Assange reacted to any criticism with the allegation that I was disobedient to him and disloyal to the project," Domscheit-Berg told Der Spiegel magazine. "He suspended me, acting as the prosecutor, judge and hangman in one person. No one in our core team agreed with the move, but that doesn't seem to matter."

Der Spiegel and The Telegraph are notoriously pro American though.

What annoyed me about the whole Wikileaks thing was that we had a whole load of supposed intellectuals going round publishing utter tosh aboutt people's thoguhts none of which would have come as a great surprise anyway... "People think Mr Berlusconi's ill mannered, No one trusts Anegla Merkel's intellect and Prince Andrew doesn't like foreigners..."

The worst thing, of course, was that in amngst all this guff was stuff that could really have damaged national secuiroty. Well done guys - great work......
