As I said mutliple times, the ferrari is no where near the Merc, unless the conditions are massively in their favour in terms of temp and even then they need Merc to **** up. Merc barely got out of second gear. We will only have a proper championship battle when in all types of weather conditions , they have the same raw speed, relying on each race being run in sahara conditions is not the best strategy, ferrari got lucky, what we and they need is for them and the others to be as fast and as good handling and not have to rely on the mercs chewing up their tires! Now here come the deluded fools, going on about ferrari have a chance blah blah blah worse than sky sports team :S
Would be great to see what the internet would say if Rosberg purposely slowed Hamilton down to mess his race up! They'd be after his head, yet it's perfectly fine if Hamilton does it?
Oh yeah by the way, what I actually dared you to do was bet against the Mercs for the championship, come on big boy, put your money where your mouth is!
Good god hamliton was running slow to preserve his tryes , when he was asked to speed up he did the times they asked for him straight away, do you really think that he was thinking hey maybe if I back nico up into the ferrari's that will **** him up?? Get a grip!
If Rosberg was holding up Hamilton, he would overtake him or pressurise him and hope for a mistake, as he did several times last year!!!!!!!! It's called racing! The fact Rosberg can't overtake is his problem, not Hamilton's! When Hamilton was asked to speed up he did, he had plenty left in the locker. If he had gone and burned his tyres out, then you'd be having a go at him for being hot headed and Rosberg being the sensible driver Rosberg needs to step up. Hamilton has raised his game another notch this year as he is racing tactically (before it was argued all he had was speed and nothing else), Rosberg needs to raise his.
I'm going to try to inject some positivity into the thread and point out that Sauber are 4th in the constructors championship despite having Ericsson as a driver
How can they possibly become ****ter than last year. 2015 is supposed to be an evolution. Ricciardo was fighting for podiums for cack sake.
Seriously, this is much ado about nothing... Brundle just hit the nail on the head, he qualified first, he got into the first corner first and therefore it was his prerogative to run the race that was in his best interest. If Rosberg couldn't get any closer how is that Hamilton's fault? Rosberg's public outbursts aren't helping him, making him look a bit silly and only fueling Hamilton in that fact that he knows he's got under his skin! Without the Safety car at the end, it looked like the leading Merc would have finished 20+ seconds ahead of the next best.. and the Merc's weren't exactly flat out for most of the race either, I think the excitement we had in Malaysia that we could have an exciting season maybe a bit premature? Solid drive by the top 6, nice to see Lotus and Romain get into the points.. Vestrappen, how good is the lad? Danny K maybe getting demoted back to the sister team next year at this rate (which may not be a bad thing!) (That's assuming RB don't take their ball and leave the sport in the next few weeks!) Forget Mayweather vs Pacquiao, I'd like to get tickets for Horner Vs Renault! Anyone know if Bahrain is going to be another night race this year? If a day time race, then the Ferrari's may be back in play!
Basically they just have not had it on the daynamo long enough, just to run and deal with the weak points, I know its not easy to produce a race engine but its not as if they are short of a few bob
How did Lewis do anything wrong? They gave him a target time and he did it. They gave him a quicker target time and again, he did it. If Merc under estimate how quickly Vettel is going to catch Nico and give Lewis/Nico a target time that isn't quick enough, how is Lewis to blame? Nico should try and overtake and win the race instead of folding. If he screws his tyres up doing it, well that's racing. Qualify 1st and control the race your self.
I didn't say he did anything wrong. I'm just saying it'd be great to see what the internet would think if it was role reversal.
If roles were reversed, Lewis would overtake; the internet has been saying Nico should have tried to overtake; it's not complicated.
That's like comparing apples to oranges as Lewis wouldn't sit back and just try to defend a Ferrari, he'd push Nico and try and overtake as we've seen many times before. Nico summed it up himself to be honest in one of his interviews saying that if he had of tried to push he'd have just destroyed his tyres as they're in the same car. He's basically saying there, Lewis is faster in the same car and I can't pass so I need him to go at a pace that doesn't allow Vettel to catch me even if he destroys his own tyres. Lewis was doing what he needed to do to manage his tyres and win the race, as I'd expect any other driver in the same position to do.
Lets sum it up. It is basically one of the many negatives of being a number 2 driver. I'd like to point out that Massa had a great race. Bottas doesn't seem to be the hype intended for this season. Williams have had their day in the sun already it seems.
Looks like it mate, had it not been for the Safety car, they'd have been closed to a minute behind the Merc's... Merc's, followed by the Ferrari's then a massive gap to Williams with the Lotus now not to far behind!
Button penalised five seconds for running into the back of Maldonado - drops to 14th. I suppose it was that or a grid penalty and the latter was hardly likely to do anything.
Another good podium for Vettel, guy still hanging in there with the Mercedes drivers. Will see if the same story at Bahrain when the rear wear is more of a factor than here in china. *looks above* Think I'll leave you guys to it.
Yeah, not much in it between the Mercs and Ferrari's today, just roles reversed from Malaysia as far as race pace went. I think there will be races where we'll get to see proper battles between them on the track.
