Mabs, though Stairway is closest LZ came to a hit (through choice I'll add) I also think it's the song that 'ruined' them to an extent. Didn't Plant eventually disown it? After they refused to edit it for radio airplay, the cigarette waving brigade started showing up at gigs and, just my opinion, took something away from the band.
I guess I'm not as old as you lol

I grew up at the opposite end of the mellow scale

Yes you are spot on H, page and grant the manager totally refused to release any single versions of the album tracks because they saw themselves as an album band, but Atlantic brought it out in America against the wishes of the band and grant, they were notorious for making sure they had control of everything related to the band even carrying cash receipts from their concerts, suitcases of cash being carried around all over america.

In later years and probably even today Plant could not even listen to it, he once said that he went to cardiff st davids hall unannounced to watch dread zeppelin playing there and walked out as soon as they started playing stairway to heaven, he thought they were really good until he heard that song.

Aber

That's an insult to the devil!!!

Sorry, belated response to Aber's quote on Millens being the devil's spawn.

By the way guys, some great tracks and clips on here tonight. Well done all.<applause><applause><applause>

I was wondering if you could help me, I have been looking for a team called Swansea City on the Championship board, but can't find them anywhere, I know you are helpful as I have seen loads of posts on here about them, could you do me a favour and post a link to where they have moved to.

Many thanks ;)

I could but why bother most of them spend more time on the CCFC page so you would only by lonely on your own.

Wait what am I on about your a Swansea fan your used to being on your own every other weekend in that council house!!!!!!!!!!!

Very strange, I leave the board for a couple of hours, and when I come back, a thread started by a muppet has gone all musical <ok> Big Zepplin fan, saw them live at Bath many moons ago, not as good live as Deep Purple though IMO <ok>

Was that in 1970 prophet, they have just unearthed rare footage of that zeppelin gig its about the only one around and the only one grant failed to destroy, saw sabbath at milton keynes ozzfest in 98 they were top notch to,

:emoticon-0148-yes:

Mabon,

Yep 1970 sounds about right, hazy daze ;) never a huge Sabbath fan TBH, but I will say the old farts have got it right, the best band (and the most professional) I've seen live has to be The Stones........last time at the Millenium there three women sat in front of me grandmother, mother and daughter all rocking, not many bands can claim that <ok>

Thinking about it the Stones ticket was a present from one of my boys,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,who wasn't born when I went to see them in the old National stadium

My grandson 9 months old is being brought up right, although he is living in London he is the smartestly dressed kid in the nursery, he has his CCFC kit (naturally) and Led Zepp & Whitesnake Tee shirts, as well as his obligatory Welsh Rugby shirt.....................the heritage is safe ;)

Yes but the muppet as you put it is still here, it's funny after you leave banter goes forth, and when you come back bile comes back ;)

Sorry I thought I was in the middle of a reasonablly intelligent conversation with Mabon <doh>

I'm suprised you are still here, hasn't your mummy put you to bed yet? Or is she still out on the batter in Wind St? You obviously need help, perhaps we should get Social Services involved. When is it going to filter through your thick skull that you are not wanted, liked or needed on the board of the biggest team in Wales?

Perhaps I'm being uncharitable, and this is your only connection with the outside world from your institution, let me give you a tip, the next time your carer lets you play with the wards computer, well go on the Swansea board, you might just find people who agree with your strange one eyed view of thr world. You have a team that has reached the premier league............... go away and enjoy it, because it won't last long. How can I put this in terms you can understand?

Is **** OFF YOU UNWANTED, UNWELCOME, UNLOVED , INTRUSIVE, TWAT
A bit too strong? Not in your case, crawl back under your stone fool <doh>

Yep don't do banter, and lets face it until you came back the thread was just a place where there was banter, then it went through the floor with your crap, but then you have always been the same with your head up the arse remarks, being a complete hypocrite about having a decent chat!

Then going round generalising the swans fans as pikeys, window lickers, scum bags, and so on, the windows at your green house are very thin, you reap what you sew, you want bile you get bile!

lol - moving on.

Proph, was that the rearranged gig after Keith Richards had cut his finger. Approx 1990/91?
Up till that point, apart from Steve Tyler and Joe Perry arriving at MK Bowl in a helicopter, those 60ft Honky Tonk Women were the coolest thing I'd seen at a concert. Worth the ticket price alone (I'm easily pleased)
