    MILLWALL v WATFORD
please log in to view this image

    Venue: The Den
    Date: 11th April 2015
    Kick Off: 15.00 BST

Where does the name Millwall come from? Seven windmills once stood on the western side of the Isle of Dogs, helping to give this part of the island the name 'Millwall'. The 'wall' was in fact a great bank of earth and stones, perhaps dating back to the Roman era and certainly in use by the early Middle Ages. This bank of earth kept the river from flooding the island at high tide, allowing the surrounding land to be cultivated for farmland.

    The Den
    Millwall Team News:

Wingers Lee Martin (foot) and Paris Cowan-Hall (ankle) have returned to training and could feature.

Midfielder Ed Upson (hamstring) is fit but full-back Carlos Edwards (knee) remains sidelined.

    Watford Team News:

Watford centre-half Craig Cathcart had to go off an hour into Monday's 2-0 win over Middlesbrough and needs a late fitness check on a calf problem.

Midfielder Almen Abdi (hamstring) is available but striker Fernando Forestieri (knee) misses out again.

The last Meeting between the clubs at Watford:

THE GOLDEN BOYS continued their unbeaten 2014/2015 home run in the Sky Bet Championship this afternoon, with a 3-1 defeat of Millwall at Vicarage Road.

Martyn Woolford had given Ian Holloway’s men an early lead, but goals from Matej Vydra and Daniel Tozser earned the Hornets an advantage at the break.

Gianni Munari got his second of the season and Watford’s third of the afternoon in the second half, to guarantee Watford’s spot at the top of the Championship, courtesy of Derby County’s 2-1 defeat at Brentford.

    Current Form;

The Lions won their last game 2-1 against Charlton at home on 3 April - their first win in 10 games.

    • That win against Charlton was also their first in 14 home games in all competitions, since they won 1-0 against Cardiff in the Championship on 25 October.

    • The Hornets have lost only one of their last nine games. Their only defeat since 21 February was 1-0 against Ipswich at home on 21 March.

    • They are unbeaten in their last six away games, winning four. Their last defeat on the road was 2-0 at Bournemouth on 30 January.

    Current Table:

    1 Bournemouth 41 44 77
    2 Norwich 41 36 76

    3 Watford 41 34 76
    4 Middlesbrough 41 28 75
    5 Derby 41 28 71
    6 Wolves 41 13 71
    7 Brentford 41 15 70
    8 Ipswich 41 15 68

    21 Rotherham 41 -20 43
    22 Millwall 40 -30 36
    23 Wigan 41 -20 35
    24 Blackpool 41 -48 25

    Words from the Head Coach:

“I expect Millwall will be motivated. They are a very aggressive team and have great team spirit and I believe they will be fighting because they need to win games to stay in the division.

“If we are arrogant in this match we will be in big trouble.”

What amazes me is the level of confidence I seem to have in Slav. I naturally always feel nervous about crunch games coming up, no matter who the opposition is, I have supported Watford too long to feel otherwise. However, under Slav, I still think we can win even if we are two down. I also feel that he is the best coach we have ever had in terms of removing complacency, and that includes GT. If we lose it won't be because we underestimate the opposition.

I am still nervous about this one, though.

I am a bit of a Cathcart fan and was not that impressed with Connolly last week - I was waiting for the red card to be brandished - we will need all 11 on the park for this one.
