No, he needs to score 20+ goals a season for 2 more seasons to be a top striker. Read what I said. Costa needs to score 20+ more goals next season to be considered in the same bracket as Aguero.
Like Kane, he still has something to prove I feel, so I wouldnt put him in the same bracket as Aguero quite yet. But if he continues on like he has been doing then yes, a top top () striker. Kane still has far more to prove tho imo, but again, is certainly on the right path.
Unfortunately he seems to be one of those strikers, like Diego Forlan and Mateja Kezman, who switched leagues and was unable to replicate the form from their previous league. Some players dont adapt, it happens. That was the worry with Costa, but thankfully that doesnt seem to have happened.
When we were linked with him I was dead against it, he seemed like a poor fit for our team and the league. Costa was the opposite, although there's always a chance it wouldn't work he looked to have everything to suit the Premier League on paper, at least. I wanted Benteke back then and still do With his injury problems you could argue we dodged a bullet over paying £20mill for him though.
I voted Kane based on this season's form and not who I think is the better player overall, baring in mind he didn't start in the Prem until November and has bettered players with much more experience I think he deserves all the recognition he gets. His all round play has been great, he's scored all different types of goals and I think that's what makes me select him above the others, from memory (and my memory is pretty ****e if I'm honest so I maybe wrong) Costa and Giroud rely heavily on the service from others for many of their goals, they seem like great predators in and around the box whereas Kane has showed he can pick the ball up and rifle it in from distance, or run with it through the defence and slot it in as well as relying on service from others, so that just edges him over Costa in 2nd with Giroud 3rd for me (Aguero would actually be 2nd if he were on the list). If I were choosing better overall, then: Aguero Costa Kane Giroud
Costa and Giroud were better in the past. They both seem less likely to suddenly drop off in the future. On the other hand, Kane has the most potential because he's the youngest. This season Kane edges Costa based not only on his total goals, but because he scores more different kinds of goals than Costa, as SOS said. Playing for a better team is an argument that cuts both ways. Costa got better service than he would have received on a weaker team. On the other hand, his team spent less time trying to help him score than a weaker team would have. The Torygraph has a slide show that rates Kane miles ahead of anyone else in the PL for points won by goals, for whatever that's worth. (Eriksen is second, incidentally. I think the trick to doing well in this metric, other things being equal, is to play on a team that never wins by more than one goal.)
