Hindsight is a wonderful thing isn't it? He's already got more goals than Proschwitz scored in the league and at a higher level. We'll have Hernandez for a while, until he's been here the same amount of time that Proschwitz was then you can't possibly make that comparison. At this moment in time, he isn't justifying his price tag, but then next season he could go on and score a fair few and might be looked upon as a decent signing. And lest we forget, it was Proschwitz's goal that took us up to the Premier League, had he not scored we would have had to go through the play-offs.

As for other dodgy keepers, Kasper Schmeichel, our own Jakupovic, Wayne Hennessey and Rob Elliot are all worse than McGregor in my opinion. I have more if you like?

Everyone seems to have forgotten that McGregor was absolutely fine until the last few weeks. Last season he was pretty much error free and was in contention for player of the season awards (can't remember if he actually did make the top 3).

I'd say the Lokeren madness was a one off at the time. It's only really recently that he's started making a lot of mistakes, and the one at Swansea I still don't think was that bad.

"McGregor was fine until the last few weeks" ....are you trying to wind me up? I don't like and NEVER have picked out on individual players but McGregor has individually been c**p this season and if we go down I will heavily blame McGregor and Bruce for picking him, this season he has looked like an inexperienced championship GK. His strengths to me are his ball distribution and saving close range shots (which he has been struggling with this season) unfortunately his weaknesses out shine his strengths. In that he doesn't command his box very well and often looks trapped (I don't remember him ever coming out to pluck the ball out from midair). His alertness is absolute garbage and seems to act on impulse. He can't save long range shots as he is too late to judge when the ball is going and seems to dive from the spot. When he does save the shot, he is incapable of keeping hold of it and on a few occassions has parried it out to an oncoming striker, which to me is school boy stuff, he's done it often this season but luckily our defence has covered for him.

I really am sorry if you don't agree, you obviously don't know what a decent GK is.....I know we are not going to get the best GK in the PL but I do believe their are better GKS in the championship and if we can't do better than that we will never survive in the PL....no point spending £10 mill on a striker when your GK is absolute garbage!

Did you really mean to say that you've never picked on individual players?

McGregor was excellent last season, but hasn't been quite the same since his bad injury at West Ham this season, maybe that's still affecting him, he hasn't become a poor keeper overnight.

I don't agree with PLT about McGregor, but that post is such a bloody train wreck that you've actually made me lean back towards his point of view.

I didn't read the post because it's tigerpants but McGregor is ****e and has been since the start of the season. He was still not great last season, but he's got worse. I've never really been convinced by him, there was a brief spell of form in 13/14 where he looked a decent goalie but other than that I think he's been poor over all.

I really don't get this McGregor negativity - I think he's made some important saves and more than kept us in games on occasions - seems like some people just need a fall guy whilst at the same time they give other players more than the benefit of the doubt even when they play **** - just look at last week - the first goal - why was Ki totally unmarked - moments before Junior was marking him but he wandered off and left him unmarked so he scored - the second goal - Brady was about to head the ball clear then Junior barges into him and the ball falls to Gomez who scores - Junior does **** like this every week but gets away with it - previous week - Junior gets totally turned by Costa after an awful challenge - ball falls to Hazard who scores - and this happens time after time after time - why is any of this McGregors fault

    "McGregor
You maybe need to go to more games!.... Remember when he saved that pen in his first game against chelsea, then let lampard score from 1000 yards, pretty much sums the guy up!

Harper is steady away but won't make the big saves but will commit less errors..

    take your pick

SB might go for Harper today, and I think will bring Diame off the bench again. Possible line up:

    McGregor/Harper

    Chester Dawson McShane
    Elmo Huddlestone Livermore Quinn Robertson
    N'Doye Hernandez

We have 38 year old Kelvin Davis in goal, he is our club captain & we love him dearly, but that shouldn't paper over the cracks of not having a suitable number 2 at the club, while trying to break into unchartered territory of top 6 football. Stop moaning you ninnies. <laugh>

To be fair... His only real weakness last season was free kicks and very few moaned about him but some posters on here only like to remember the last two-three games.

I still blame McGregor for the Cazorla goal in the FA Cup final.
