My shortlist and still to decide, will go with 3 E/W

Balthasar King (2nd last year but expected to much prefer the ground this year, rested at Chletenham for this race)
Alvarado (4th last year, good trainers who have a good record in this race. Only run once since last years National so should be fresh)
    Rocky Creek (Just fancy it)
Al Co (Won the Scottish national last year but Jockey who rode then has a broken leg. The jockey riding him tom finished second on Black Apalachi five years ago)
Soll (Not carrying a lot of weight, 7th in 2013 so can get around the course)
Pineau De Re (last years winner. 8 lbs heavier and the last horse to win two on the trot was Red Rum 40 years ago. Might not win but E/W good chance of top 5?)

Expected to be a lot of fallers from what Ive read. Dry ground means the horses will be going fast! 40 mph or so! <yikes>

I hope there are no fatalities

Tempted with Across the Bay as well, very unlucky when leading last year to be taken to the rails by the unmounted horse and then rejoined in last to still finish 14th

And 5 lbs lighter this time

Although better onn heavy ground apparently

Forgot about the golf. Easy to do as it's not a real sport, just glorified walking <ok>

You'll never catch any of the participants with a pot belly or on the brink of collecting a pension

All about natural ability, not how many hours you can spend in the gym, what sport should be about <whistle>

Rowing is won by going backwards.

Can't be many others, 100 metres backstroke?

Lad who works with my son, and never bets, chose 6 horses in the national after a bit of peer pressure in the office. They had to explain to him what an each way bet was, so that's what he did on all six. He picked the first six horses placed. Just hope he does not think gambling is easy as I doubt he will achieve this success ever again
