This is completely OT but may be of interest to someone. The place I've been asked to take care of used to belong to Sir Ernest Harrison, the Vodaphone fella. He was very interested in horse racing and there are outbuildings full of the stuff that the family left when he died. The new owner has no interest in any of it and wants to turn the outbuildings into a steam room, sauna style effort. There are dozens of framed, photos, paintings, prints and even a few limited editions. There are piles of books on race horses, studs and year books going back to the 1960's. If anyone has a genuine interest just let me know and you can have a few. I'll be up for Southampton, most likely, and Leicester definitely so would be happy to bring them.
Don't know if you know mate I remember seeing a a Horse racing museum in Suffolk would they be interested in any of the memorabilia ?
Cracking gesture that mate.. Diddles direction looks a good one and worth looking into or there's a horse racing forum on here where someone might jump a fence to help..
Talking about Horses.....there's a horse in the National on Saturday called - SOLL (Stadium Of Lucky Light)
I just hate the idea of binning summat that someone might really like, some of the paintings are excellent if you like the idea dwarves on big horses
was only trying to help mate ... There is an absolute '**** load' of which I know '**** all' about... and can say with great confidence that paradoxically I particularly really know '****-all' about football ... on that subject I'm usually quite clueless - so I honestly dunno why I'm on this forum a lot of the time ...
It was a compliment mate, you seem to have a wide range of interests. Incidentally there are stack of book on all kinds of subjects, I'm currently reading a travel story about Sicily from 1955. If there's owt you're particularly into, let me know and I'll see what there is. Not much on contemporary music but I did find an invitation to 'an evening with Bob Dylan' to do with his paintings. Bloody thing's out of date though
Cheers mate, to be honest- I do like a good read, if you have any subjects on contemporary art (not equine art ) , travel, history, sciences, or possibly any of the 'classic novels' as all my children are avid readers too - I'll happily take them of your hand, don't give yourself too much bother though
If there's anything on botany or horticulture my lady would gratefully take them off your hands if they're going begging.
