oh dont worry, taste in music is not somthing i boast about either. some might call it ecclectic, others crap lol. They were before, but they have kicked that bunch out and changed their name from Watford Ultras to escape that image.
lol..now you've said that, i'm curious about your music choice! There are times i want to cover my daughter's ears at away games but mostly i wouldn't call them militant
OK, here goes : I'll do the song titles and the 1st person to get all the artists right ...... National Express Bridge of Sighs Back at the Funny Farm - love the intro M.E. Revenge is Sweet All inspired by the BBC2 programme "how to write a pop song"
National Express- Divine Comody? Bridge of Sighs- Robin Trower? Back at the Funny Farm- motorhead? M.E.-no idea Revenge is Sweet-not a clue The demented man- Hawkwind
Yes, you've got the first 3 right, although it's The Divine Comedy! Have you been cheating? M.E. is Gary Numan Revenge is Sweet is Nazareth
Hmm, Bridge of Sighs, i know that..um...ringing bells... Demented Man - Hawkwind? Back at the funny farm - someone heavy rockish lol not sure of the others but i'm tired too
But have you ever been on a bad holiday and spent most of the time humming a song? I went to Spain with the in laws and their friends and spent the week humming "Pictures of Home" which was ever so true. Come to think of it its not the strangest holiday I ever had. I did go to Portugal with an ex girlfriend (of about 12 months), she hadn't told her parents we'd split. So I had a free holiday and learnt to play golf (badly) and went skinny dipping (err with her!)
That will be the same sort of mistake that people make with THE beautiful south. 'The' is often missed in band names. Gary Numan rings a bell for something but i have no idea why. And i must confess i did cheat.
Back at the funny farm was Motorhead when they were past their best (for example Ace of Spades was recorded in Rickmansworth!!!!). Err oh yes the link to football was April 1985 vs Newcastle (a 4-1 win). We scored and I shouted "top notch" knowing that I'd heard it somewhere ....... it is the opening Lemmy grunt. I am a huge fan of Lemmy's grunts!
Ah Gary Numan, I have his first 3 albums - Tubeway Army, Replicas (feat ARE friends Electric) and The Pleasure Principle, but then Cedric Sharpley died and that was it.
Err maybe I used to be considered a "good catch"! So we blatted around Portugal in a 1985 Ford Escort, a slow minging Diesel one and of course it was a left hooker!
Yes Hawkwind. My biggest problem is I have a few dozen of their LP's and they're all LP's. So I've converted about 25 to CD so far including some I had never actually got round to listening to (stuff like Bring me the head of Yuri Gagarin). Now I'm a big fan, but they stopped making decent stuff in the mid 1980's! and then there was some rubbish, but I still bought it!
BHD - you mentioning Bridge of Sighs reminds of a pub quiz when I was at Uni in the local from my digs. This is slightly embarrassing as a question was where is the Bridge of Sighs. Neither my team mates or I knew it was in Venice so our answer was "Itchycoo Park" as I'd heard it in the Small Faces record which was released 6 years before I was born! Elixir - have you been involved with rallying? I first heard the term "left hooker" when I started timekeeping at the Jersey Rally. They're a nightmare if you're on stage start as the person doing the countdown and the one with the flag have to swap sides when swapping between a left hooker and a right hooker, which isn't easy when stage start is in a country lane.
Yes I know its a term used in motorsport, have gone to rallys like the RAC, and got stuck! It seemed like a good way to describe this (quite new) Ford Escort as it was as slow as old wotsits!
I'm not sure, my cousin used to have one and I remember him blatting across the Yorkshire Moors one sunny afternoon in his. Mind you he knew the roads and it was his company car!!!!!!
