Don't put yourself down Brian, ok so your spelling and grammar are not top drawer, but anyone with half a brain knows exactly what you mean!
thanks dave i dont see Bournemouth slipping up but it would be great for you to come up via the playoffs (do you fancy taking out Ipswich in the final lol
My ticker demands a top two finish, I'd hate to be in the play-offs and as for meeting the "binners," there's a guarantee that all our recent successes over them would come to an end!
i think im a bit younger than you dave so i will give you the play-offs you have middlesbough at home and both Leeds and Rotherham both got draws at your ground but you are the in form team it mite go down to goal diff we hope not
you and Bournemouth have come into form at the right time its just who will drop more points out of the 4 of us
Bournemouth will only have themselves to blame if they miss out. Just the one tricky tie on paper, Reading, and that four days before the cup semi-final! If we win all our games and Middlesbrough take points off Norwich then we're up. Match Norwich results and beat their nett score by at least two goals and we're up. That's the more likely of those two scenarios. Bolton and Leeds (midweek) away are going to be tricky as well. I think, on balance, we're going to do it. Still, what do I know given my standings in the WPL!?!
good points fez at least you are in it to win it and im not even in it lol Norwich have away game at Leeds Bolton and Rotherham
It is highly unlikely all four teams at the top will all get maximum points and of course for Dave's Norwich and Boro it is impossible. Bournemouths superior goal diff is like an extra point and again it is highly unlikely all things considered that another team will better their goal diff which gives them a massive bonus. I said a while ago that I thought it would take 22 points from the last ten games for us to get auto, that is looking a very realistic prediction now for us (88 points) and means we need four wins from our last five games with probably two fairly large scores out of those games to nulify Norwich's goal diff as security.
i agree with with flitton bournemouth is in a strong position 4 wins and maybe a draw should do it for us its a big ask but poss but we cant rule out boro just yet they have 3 home games
Boro have Wolves at home tomorrow and that will be a huge game for them and one I think may well end up as a draw.
It is turning out to be record breaking in a couple of ways. It might be necessary to get 80 points just to get in the playoffs. We keep on saying it, but the next couple of games could be crucial. Naarwich have to play bolton and leeds away without Bradley Johnson, who does seem to be their talisman. If the come through them with 6 points, then they will be very well placed. On the other hand, if they draw 1 and lose 1, (whch I think is realistic) and we win both (forest might be hard) then we are 5 clear of them BEFORE they play boro. If we then beat Brum, and they draw we would be up before the brighton game. How do like them apples ?
There are now two races. The automatic promotion places will go to two of the current top four. Play offs will be between the two that miss out plus two of the next four. So automatic is ourselves, Bournemouth, Norwich and Middlesbrough Watford and Bournemouth have similar fixtures left - 2 home and three away and none against top 8 sides. All the games are winnable. Due to goal difference they are really 2 points ahead of us not 1 - for us to overtake Bounrmouth we have to win a game when they only draw and match their other results. Norwich have to match our results to stay ahead of us - and one of their games is home to Middlesbrough - tough - could be the game that decides it - they need to beat them. Norwich's other fixtures are about the same difficulty as ours. Middlesbrough are now the outsiders - they have to overtake two sides to get an auto. They also have 2 of the top 8 still to play; Wolves at home and Norwich away. With those fixtures they will find it hard to gain 2 points on us - and if they do beat Norwich they could let us in the back door to second spot. I predict : 1 Bournemouth 88 2 Watford 87 overtaking Norwich by improving our goal difference during their draw against MIddlesbrough 3 Norwich 87 4 Middlesbrough 86 5 Derby 84 6 Ipswich 79 7 Brentford 79 8 Wolves 79
im more of a large melons guy Norwich only got draws to leeds and rotherham and piped bolton 2-1 in there home game so they could drop 3 to5 pts without the boro home game which should be a home win as boro away record is looking very bad but the draw could suite us i think 78 will be 6th place and 88/87 will be 2ond
I wouldn't like to predict what will happen in the top four. It is still possible that one team will go on a bad run. I just hope it isn't us. I also think that the teams that finish 3rd and 4th will not win the play-offs. I have become a firm believer that teams that just miss out on automatic promotion fail to lift themselves sufficiently to win the play-offs.
It seems that a team that goes on a run to get in the playoffs often takes the momentum through to win. there are some stats that indicate that the 4th & 5th teams don't do as well as they should. they appeared 2 years ago. Anyway - let's hope - after all, we have the best squad, a decent run in, no dramatic injury losses, decent form (referees permitting) and the beststrike force in the division.
