I have been to Turkey before. I visited Turgutreis in August 2013 (I think!) - lovely country and people.

I've also been to Greece (Laganas, Zakynthos), Spain (mainland and a few islands), France and Belgium - so looking for something new.

Crete may be worth a look!

Too many people from my younger days are leaving us. I don't like it.

Malta is a funny one. I loved it and had a great holiday, but have come across several people who have really disliked it. It's like marmite. Beautiful place with interesting buildings and a fascinating history having been invaded by just about everybody. They had the good sense to invite the British in to get rid of the French :) Not sure there is enough nightlife for a youngster, though it is possible that I wasn't looking.

Well that's why I think DTLW will like it. It is small and there are two areas with good nightlife so no matter where you stay, you can get to it or avoid it, as you like.

Agree though, it does seem to be a love it or hate it place.

I love it. Trip to Gozo. Boat trip to the blue lagoon.... And DTLW and his mates can go visit the PlayPeople factory :)

Best = rabbit, chips and gravy.

Got to go, flight taking off :)

Valletta Harbour has to be one of the most beautiful places in the world and you can get a decent cup of tea. Yes, Malta can provide you with a cup of TEA (gets down on knees and thanks God :).) They apparently understand that water has to boil...a concept beyond other countries.

Wait for it....being obese reduces the chances of dementia. Not totally surprising as fat is essential for a healthy brain and nervous system...the reason why kids should not be put on low fat diets without good cause. Obviously fat head is now a compliment :)

Amalfi coast is beautiful, but I think DTLW's initial choice of Croatia is a good one. Wonderful scenery and buildings and less crowded and developed than Italy...mind you it was called Yugoslavia when I went :)

Been to Sunny Beach on a piss up twice, it is so rundown. If you manage to avoid the reps begging you into their clubs the beach is nice and there are some nice bars/restaurants. Its pretty much turned into a standard lads holiday destination now with all the reps and their **** clubs which is a shame.

First thing I do when I get home (just done it) is make a cup of tea. I love my coffee but the day he to start with tea, but not tea from foreign hotels.

Malta is a lovely place, my family used to go on holiday to Gozo loads when I was little. Most of the locals speak English, which is helpful, and now they've even got the old bendy buses from London that Boris got rid of. I've heard from friends that the touristy resort area on the north coast (around St Paul's I think) is pretty unpleasant but I've never been myself and that was 5 or 6 years ago now.
