A massive loss to all who enjoy cricket...It will be hard to imagine the next ashes series without his commentary..

Very sad news, a legend in the world of cricket and it won't be the same without his commentary <rose>

The last of the gentleman commentators who reported on the cricket and not how they cuddashuddawudda won. No bias in the fellah at all.

Yep, a great commentator and cricketer. He really was the voice of cricket for me.

Just wondering Nostalgic, do you remember his debut match?

Concur with all of the above comments, unlike the majority of Australian cricketers he was a true gentleman and totally unbiased in his commentaries, a massive loss to the game.

Indeed.... As @Blunham Mackem states "the voice of cricket" :emoticon-0148-yes:

The modern era being what it is he'll probably be replaced by John Bishop or Olly ****in Murs <steam>

It's a bit like when Peter O'Sullivan died.
Watching horse racing was never quite the same again.

Knowledgeable, unbiased, critical but never insulting and a dry wit.

    A true gentleman.

A different world to the yapping halfwits of football punditry.

    RIP
