Have you read any of the rest of this thread? It's recurring theme, and you shoud be able to glean most people's opinions.

I'm steeling myself to watch Question Time, though I'm bound to regret it 5 minutes in. Then we'll have that Andrew neill thing and I'll find myself longing that Portillo, who now seems a colossus, and Johnson were more actively involved. But probably not Diane Abbott.

Fallon was a disgrace this morning, though I won't be surprised to hear others from the other parties stooping as low. This is what I can't stand, they consciously spurn opportunities to explain why they think, in this case spending £25bn on nuclear deterrents, is important in order to sling some mud. It's an insult to the electorate. Now some woman called Truss, apparently the Environment Secretary, is sticking up for Fallon.

They're all agreeing with Fallon, it's a concerted tactic. Nice one Lynton Crosby - could backfire, though.

Just switched to QT - I like Caroline Lucas.

No, as someone who can't wait for this election to do one I only look into this thread sporadically. I have a random gander now and again being this thread is often at the top.

Reading everyone's opinions which I do respect even if I often don't agree with any of them often depresses me, also reinforces my opinion that the politics on offer need tweaking.

I have voted left and right. I have never been a one party wave the blue/red flag type. I still sort of find it interesting but can't be bothered anymore to spend much time out of my short life on this planet stressing about it anymore tbh!

Backfiring big time with the audience at QT. Lucas is certainly more impressive than her party leader. Vince Cable used to be a councillor down where I used to live in Teddington. He is a completely devious ****er.

All this stuff about non doms is a complete red herring. Although he is very punchable the boy journo from the Telegraph is right in saying that they do pay tax on what they earn here, and a fee for not being taxed on what they earn abroad. Most of the others and the audience seem to be under the impression that they don't pay any tax at all. I'd still do away with it though.

If the non-doms would rather **** off than pay a bit more tax, then they can **** right off imo.

Ms Truss isn't going to win many votes for the Tories.

She's a nightmare. Lucas definitely ahead on the night, shame their answer for everything is a new tax. Low quality stuff overall though.

Tory boy had more than a whiff of David Starkey about him - something we should know David?

At least we can look forward to Pixie Lott's analysis on This Week.

..with a d list sofa. Might go to bed, though anybody starting with a bash at George Galloway, a completely odious human being, should be applauded. Something very strange going on with Mensch's face though.

It seems the polls haven't really changed despite almost two weeks of the usual unimpressive dross where spin is king. The major parties are just as economical with the truth as ever and continue to treat the public as gullible idiots and the minor parties promise different forms of Utopia. UKIP appear to be on the wane probably thanks to Farage's HIV gaffe.

Funnily enough I took Al Murray to St Pancras yesterday morning, on his way to Paris, totally different from his pub landlord character, looks like he's had enough of the election as well...

I keep expecting one or other of the major parties to announce a real game changer, but nothing seems to change the polls.
It seems that we are heading for that nightmare scenario of Milliband being supported by the nutty, England hating SNP.
I'm no fan of Cameron but the alternatives look very alarming to me.

I'm sure Jimmy White is looking forward to his day in court providing expert testimony on the savoury snacks that were recklessly bandied about.

He confessed that he has been importing Transylvanian blood for years and renting it out for £8 an hour - some of it may have been infected due to the disgusting, perverse habits of these aliens. But he only did it because he couldn't get his hands on any decent, pure British blood because he couldn't find any decent, pure British people. Most of the blood had been rented by foreigners anyway, and sold to the NHS for treating HIV positive illegal immigrants, so he doesn't feel too bad about it.

Just been looking at new poll of polls in the Independent and the Telegraph showing Labour 2 points ahead of Conservative, with an upward trend for Labour since the Election campaign started and the opposite for Conservative.

It's here at last! The Labour manifesto! I know that there are literally some damp seats around the country such is the excitement!

But in case you don't have time to do your civic duty and read it cover to cover, here is a summary:

    - it's 86 pages long
    - there are some pictures
    - it is divided into sections with some helpful summary bullet points at the end
    - you can get it on pdf

I skimmed it of course. One thing that struck me was the promise to recruit 8,000 GPs, 20,000 nurses and 3,000 midwives. It takes a minimum of seven years to train a GP, so unless there are loads sitting around on the dole or working at B&Q waiting for a massive increase to GP contracts, or we prevent the existing ones from ever retiring, we'll have to get them from abroad. Perhaps this works by charging them to train here, which will contribute to offsetting the proposed reduction in tuition fees, and then not letting them leave.

Meanwhile, Sierra Leone with it's 6.1m population and an ebola epidemic (no longer news now we have an election) has a total of 136 doctors (less than 100 in the public sector), 0.03 per 1,000 population, compared to our 2.7 per 1,000, and nearly 6 in ....Cuba. Estonia and Bulgaria also have more than us.

Of course, this is an area where a bit of good old fashioned socialist central planning is needed - to make sure we have enough training and university places for the right specialities and there are some incentives in place for the places to be taken up. I haven't read the manifesto closely enough to see whether this is the idea, but somehow I doubt it.

I can barely wait for the other manifestos to emerge.
