If we can get past these 3 games with a decent amount of points then I'm confident about the last 4. Feel positive we will beat Arsenal.
We have to beat Arsenal or A87 will float off the planet, he has already had to be tethered because they managed a win in the FA Cup
We still have tricky games to play, that 8 point cushion could come in handy. Would take 5-6 points from the next 3 if I'm honest. Would keep us atleast 4 clear of the chasing pack. We don't wanna be losing a couple of these and giving the others any encouragement
I don't think we'll lose the home games against City and Arsenal, largely because draws suit everyone now that there is a decent gap to 5th place. Chelsea away will obviously be tricky but we have a much better chance of getting something from the game than we did a couple of months ago. They seem to be crawling to the line by grinding out wins, which to be fair is what champion teams have to do. Their limited first team player pool is starting to show/creak.
I agree I think Chelsea are playing as badly as they've played all season. They have just been fortunate that the only possible threat City have been even worse
Can see us us beating City and not losing to Chelsea so that's four more points. More or less all fit and we're playing well, which those two aren't. Don't want to jinx us in any way but I can see us comfortably beating City.
Arsenal will be the toughest match. They're playing some very good football and have a striker banging in the goals.
We're at home though. Unless Wenger has discovered some magic powers I just can't see them beating us at home. Forget the cup, not the same at all.
As I said, I think it will be a draw. Wenger won't come and have a go at us and I think both managers will be happy with a draw. If Spurs and Liverpool win all their remaining games, which they won't, they will finish on 75 points. For us that means we need 13 points from 7 games. More likely that we will need no more than 9 points.
We should be looking to win it. It may well be a draw but LVG unlike poor Brenda has the beating of Wenger. I would expect us to win our home games, whoever we play. Against Chelsea I would take a draw although after humiliating the world class RS in their stinking backyard anything should be possible.
I would expect us to win most of our remaining games. Chelsea away remains the only one I see us dropping points in barring any great surprise. Chelsea will be tough because they play like a League 2 side fighting relegation to the conference in big games. These are the games we have come unstuck in.
It does have draw written all over it, although like the cup game it may well end up being decided by individual errors rather than any one side deserving the win.
If we beat City and draw our next 2 games (5pts) we will be level on points with City after those 3 games but they'll likely be 3rd on GD We should be aiming for 3rd at least so imo we really should go for 7 pts.
It is interesting to note how the climate has changed. From the media pundits who to a man didn't give us the slightest chance of a CL place to the fans who now have real optimism. I'd be honest and say that at this point I do not expect us to lose to anyone. I am even thinking we could win all our remaining matches including the one against Chelsea away, Had I said that 2 months ago I would have been accused of swallowing some of the nasty stuff that UIR uses (only joking UIR!) The reality is that we probably won't do it and that there will be losses and draws along the way. But it does show how much the outlook has changed. For me we ought to get at least 11 points from these 5 matches. A haul that no one had predicted.
The first month ****ed us bigtime. From Sept 1st Chelsea have collected 1 point more than us. 2 points from 3 games...
The pundits, the likes of halfwit Robbie Savage, always focused on our so called crap defence as the reason we wouldn't get there. The reality though is that while we've chopped and changed the defence had never really been that bad. It's getting a settled midfield and attack which was the problem and now that has been sorted, or fallen into place one way or another, we have always clearly had the players capable of competing in the league. It was pretty obvious really, pundits are generally looking for some headline or other and talk ****e for the most part. Imagine how good that defence will be if Hummels and a right back are added. Also add one more midfielder and a forward to replace RVP and/or Falcao and the squad is a title winning one in the making.
It just puts into perspective that we are not far behind at all. We were a different team come 1/9/14 and have matched the league leaders all the way. Tells me that a full pre season for our players and manager will have huge benefits for United.
