Yes, Ron is in final negotiations with an "exciting" and "instantly recognisable" "Iconic brand"...

Rumor has it that with negotiations so advanced and both sides eager to get it done, It is expected to be completed by sometime around 2020.

Sounds good to me! The more variety the better. Can they change livery midseason?

Spyker changed their livery when they bought out Midland at the end of the 2006 season - have things changed since then?

Would be hilarious if you can change your car livery but you can't change your helmet design.

They can't paint their helmets a different colour, I'd be amazed if they could change the car. I remember Red Bull running a special livery at Silverstone a few years ago (2011 maybe) with pictures of their staff, but I think it's been banned since then.

    Edit: http://www.f1fanatic.co.uk/2012/07/05/red-bull-reveal-wings-life-rb8-livery/

That's the Red Bull one (it was 2012), they might've gotten away with it because the car was fundamentally the same colour.

Interesting snippet that I just read, shows how fine margins can be.
Alonso is 8 points short of being a 5 time world champion. 2007, 2010, 2012

And in each one of those finale's he went in ahead on points of the guy who went on to win the WDC.

And Hamilton used to be called a choker.

disclaimer : the above is a joke and in no way intended to suggest that Alonso is a choker or the losses were in anyway his fault. It was all the fault of Hamilton/Dennis in 2007, Petrov in 2010 and Ferrari in 2012. Obviously. Alonso is god-like.

Germany's second most famous driver to tackle WTCC round on the Nordschliefe.

And to make it F1 related, when was the last time an F1 car lapped the full circuit? If, if ,if it were ever allowed again, how quick could a contemporary F1 car lap the circuit in?

Schumacher 2013. In a 2011 spec MGP. Heidfeld has done the fastest in his BMW I think. And good question.

I don't understand why there is a need to monitor and control fuel flow with regulations. Seems to me you are allowed a certain amount of fuel and that should be all the control needed. Not controlling the flow would most likely lead to more overtaking moments, drive innovation, which is surely what F1 is about. Also, give the driver a petrol gauge, I am sure he has one, and let him decide usage, no pit control or messages about turning it down. Bring back driver intelligence as a factor, not just his fitness there by creating good role models. Also, more money for the back of the grid which I think most support. The world is process mad these days, not just in F1. Bring back innovation! Will F1 ever listen to the fans?

Road & Track magazine reported Heidfeld’s lap was a 5:57 or 5:58 (for the Nordschleife only), breaking the track’s six-minute barrier for the first time in history. However, their times were done by measuring the speed in some corners, and then calculating a lap time, and not timing a full lap. A BMW video montage with onboard, track side and helicopter camera views gives a better estimate of 6 minutes 40 seconds to the last corner.

    However

.....BMW announced that the car was slowed with hard demonstration tires, maximum ride height, and 275 km/h top speed limited by the transmission. Heidfeld drove three laps on the combined

One full pelt lap would be amazing. Would need enormous balls and a big life insurance cover.
