    Hindsight is a wonderful thing.

Having said that, a lot of us would have sacrificed a place in the top league for a good European run, just for the memories and its newness.

We may have had future discussions like "Remember that game in Moscow when Jelavic bagged a brace?" or "Remember when we were chased down the street in Athens?"

Instead we are left with "Remember that limp performance away to Villa in our fourth premier league campaign?" or "Remember that defeat away to Burnley? - Which one?"

Instead I'll personally have to make do with things like the Amber Nectar travelogue - http://www.ambernectar.org/blog/category/euro-diaries/

Will we ever have another chance to get to Europe? We'll have to win something first, something we have a great track record of doing.

It wouldn't have been worth it if we'd had a decent season in the league. Europe should be a priority.

Our league games immediately after what would have been our Europa league group games were:

    Newcastle (a) 2-2 draw
    Palace (h) 2-0 win
    Liverpool (a) 0-0 draw
    Burnley (a) 1-0 loss
    Man Utd (a) 3-0 loss
    Chelsea (a) 2-0 loss

At worst we would be 5 points worse off having been in the Europa league (not counting any knock on fatigue) I know it's hindsight but I would take that.
You can't say for sure what would have happened so just going on the assumption we would lose the game after every Europa league game.

There's no hindsight about it. I said it at the time and I say it again now, I'd gladly already be mathematically relegated if we were still in the Europa League.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, Steve Bruce is the ****ing antichrist after the euro debacle as fr as I'm concerned.

Can't wait til the fat prick ****s off and takes his incessant whinging and finger pointing elsewhere.

Is it me or have I not seen any of this 'incessant whinging and finger-pointing' that you are on about? I know better than to pay any attention to what you say but even so...

We are a mediocre Premier League team; correction, we are a poor Premier League team asppiring to be mediocre. But we are still a Premier League team no matter what! There are those on here for whom that counts little; to be proud of our Premier League status is to be labelled a Premier League whore.

So, we qualified for a European competition via the back door and for some this became the new vision; piss ups in Prague, booze ups in Barcelona, hangovers in Hamburg! As long as this dream could continue, who cared if we went into free fall, all the way down to the Conference?

Well, I care, for one! I have supported this club for over fifty years, back since the days of the old Third Division North and I day dreamed of the days when we would play the 'big guns' every week. Don't anyone dare sat that people of my vintage are not true supporters!!! We have earned that right and privilege.

Too often on here people make sanctimonious bleats that 'it's the club that counts' and not its league status. Bollocks! We support a professional sports team and need to compete with the best. I would rather be 15th in the Premier League than 5th in the Championshiip. Our aim must be to establish ourselves as a Premier League team and earn a place in Europe by right. Then we can judge a manager on his European strategy.

I was looking forward to the European adventure - planning to travel away to see City play away in Europe - regardless of the opposition what could top that?

Unfortunately my Mum died suddenly and most unexpectedly in early August last year. Football, for a period didn't seem important to me. Strangely it still doesn't really, it's not life or death. I hated football for a month or so, our FA Cup final was on my Mums 60th Birthday - I missed her Birthday for football, I'll never get that back, she joked when she said you go to the final, you can make it up to me next year.

Family now comes first to me, every time. What league will we be in next year? It doesn't matter to me, the club will still exist. European adventure, yes it's a nice to have, a nice tick in the box on your football wish list. My European adventure didn't happen, but there really is more to life than football.

That if City had tried harder in the Europa League last year, we'd now be heading for the Conference?

I think the key is to enjoy each experience as it comes and not get to hung up about what league we are in or who we are playing.

We will go down, its just a case of how long we can delay it, it might be a couple of years, it might be a few months, but history tells us that clubs our size do not become permanent fixtures in the PL.

So enjoy the PL for what it is, we have a finite time here, its fun while it lasts but I won't particularly miss it when its gone.

    It really did.

Do you think we could be the new DMD/Fez? Which one would you prefer to be? :)

No he didnt. His point, and I'm paraphrasing, was that some people have the attitude that they don't care what happens in terms of the league as long as we stay in Europe. He didnt say 'if we had stayed in Europe, we're heading for the conference'.
