So with the only domestic clubs left that are reportadly interested in Enrique being Arsenal and Liverpool. And Arsene saying this yesterday:

“The reasoning is that Kieran Gibbs at some stage has to get a chance to play. And Gael had only one year to go.

“I rate Gael very highly but I rate highly as well Kieran Gibbs, and he is now at an age where he has to play. And that’s the main reason behind that, to give Gibbs a chance”.

And Liverpool being linked with Aly Cissokho in every single French media outlet, is it looking likely he will stay?

To back this up, his best friend has just been named club captain who will surely now try and pesuade him to stay. Obviously, Enrique has 3 options, leave now, run down his contract or sign on. What does everyone think will happen?

I think/hope that if we start the season looking like European contenders, he might change his mind and sign a new deal.

I'd like him to stay, but if he does go I think it'll be better all round if it's to Barca.

I still think he might stay but only to put himself in the shop window for Spain and the likes of Barca etc. He really wants to play for Spain so with the Euro's coming up next year he'll no doubt be hoping to play a part. The one thing he's guaranteed here is first team football, albeit none European, which is essential if he wants to impress the Spanish scouts. Fingers crossed eh?

Can maybe see him signing a short term extension then playing his heart out to get a move to Barca and we still get a fee next year.

Do people actually see Barcelona's interest in Enrique being real or just agent talk/ media speculation? They do have Abidal and Maxwell, who are both world class left backs. And with a reported budget of only 40 million and Barca wanting to sign Cesc, Sanchez and Neymar, does that not effectively rule them out?

Barca have come out and said they aren't interested (enrique_barcelona_rumours_are_quashed) in him apparently they are trying to sign Valencia’s Jordi Alba, which if arsenal aren't interested leaves the dippers and as he has stated he will only leave for champions league football would be a massive dissapointment if he went there proving he talks bollocks and wants more money. The other option is Bayern Munich but apart from one transfer gossip link there's been no more criac on them.just hope it doesn't drag on the club need to set a deadline for his decision and if that passes transfer list him and get a replacement in,i'm only saying this as we can't afford a repeat of the Mandy situation and find ourselves without an experienced left back at the start of the season as he's been sold on transfer deadline day

Maxwell is poor and Abidal is 32! It's their weakest position

This! Maxwell is average and Abidal has 2 years left, maximum. Enrique would also boost their Spanish quota even more (that would make it 9 Spaniards in their best XI).

I'm still getting premonitions that he will leave us on deadline day this summer. Hope that isn't the case and that we have signed a backup already.

Well, "sign a new contract" could be referring to anywhere so I'm guessing that's Comolli.

Why dont we offer him a contract with a agreement where if hes not happy next season he can leave.

This way we get money and another year or more if hes happy

He can move if hes unhappy
