I'd love Mata, he's only started playing for them recently because of the RVP injury. LVG will bench him when RVP's fit again. If Mata could rediscover his best for for us, we'd be unstoppable. I personally thought he was the best player in the league after Bale in the 2012-13 season.

I think his wages would kill any move dead before it even began, I think he's on £150k a week.

Anyway, as much as I rate the player I'm not sure how we'd work Mata and Eriksen into the same team, especially since we're lacking in fast, attacking players.

Chelsea used to play Mata and Oscar together, so I reckon Eriksen and Mata could work together in a similar way. As long as we bought a pacey winger like Lavezzi for example, I think it would be fine.

We're one of the clubs linked with Fulham forward Patrick Roberts, this week's "English Messi" - but so are Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool and both Manchester clubs, and given Roberts only has a year on his contract it looks like an agent trying to start an auction so his 10% cut will be that much bigger.

As well as finding the talk of him being linked to the big money clubs somewhat suspect, there's a couple of other issues too: he plays on the right but is left footed, meaning he's another inverted winger and Townsend is driving us nuts doing the same thing already - but mainly he plays in the same positions Pritchard does, and frankly I'd sooner see Pritch step up to the first team then have his path blocked by a player who could easily be flavour of the month.

Roberts is only 18, so I'd expect him to have some way to go to make the team, much like Delle Alli.
Pritchard seems pretty versatile too, so I don't expect them to clash too much.
I've seen him play on both sides and centrally. He looks like a nightmare to mark.

With Yedlin, Pritchard and Alli likely to feature and if this Roberts stuff has substance and goes through, it looks like we'll be aiming to break our youngest squad in the league record again next season <laugh>

    Team next season:

    Lloris
    Walker Vertonghen Otamendi Coentrao
    Gustavo Mason
    Lavezzi Eriksen Mata
    Kane

    Would be awesome.

'Best' means nothing better exists. 'One of the best' would therefore mean there are a few equally able teams of which no other team is better. So in your opinion there are no teams better than spurs in England?

That's a very literal way of taking my post. The fact is that we're in the top 6 teams in England who will challenge for Champions League football every year. Why wouldn't anyone want to come to us?

Because top players want to play in and challenge for the Champions League itself, not just challenge for a place and ultimately fail (baring 1 year).

You've got a good side but realistically it will be very difficult to get back in the C.L. There are 4-5 clubs more equipped to do it IMO and only 4 spaces.

Wasn't Falque from Real, or was that Barcelona? Ceballos couldn't turn down a move from Barca to us either :emoticon-0103-cool:

Where else would he go? Chelski and United don't need him, City and the Goons haven't been linked with him, and Liverpool are no more attractive than we are.

Liverpool is much more attractive. Similar level at the moment in ability terms but one is a European great and the other is...well you know.

He also could go to another club outside of England. Maybe he'll go back to Portugal. Benfica and Porto would be more attractive options for him.

Plenty of big players have come to us in the last few years. Bigger than Coentrao. Don't see why you think we're some ****ty club that can't attract top players. VDV, Soldado, Lamela, Eriksen etc. certainly didn't think that way.
