Remember you (and the rest of us) have no idea what is going on with his contract negotiations, all you are going by is what you read in the papers. He hasn't said he wants to join United or City (or indeed anyone) so why are you judging him? Which 'enemy' is he going to, pray tell?
Reports are emerging that Man Citeh have agreed a fee of £23 mill for Samir Nasri. (BBC Transfer gossip) This is despite Arsenal offering him £100,00 per week, so Citeh must be offering considerably more. Is Nasri just another golddigger or is it Arsenal's unwillingness to move into the real world of football salaries?
there has been a definitive shift in Wenger's policy over the last few seasons which people seem to have failed to notice. when Nasri, Theo and a few others were bought a few years ago, they were bought because they had ability, and were seen as prospects. over the last couple of seasons, with debt reducing and more money available to spend, Wenger's focus has shifted to more ready first team players. Arshavin, Chamakh, Vermaelen, Squillaci - all bought to go straight into the matchday squad, while Koscielny was bought with potential. i believe this will continue this summer. Arsene will buy, a mixture of potential, but predominantly players that he believes will improve the squad NOW.
Yes but it doesn't mean it isn't true, does it. Lets face it the last place we are going to hear this is arsenal.coml Is this not a forum for views and rumours?
Hardly the point, i said it was a gossip report, are you saying that only things confirmed by arsenal.com are allowed on here?
Well from what I've read of late, Arsenal don't pay badly and their total salary costs are very close to that of Man U. It's just that we don't pay soaringly high sums to the stars and there is more parity amongst the players. Nasri in the past year has seemingly felt that he deserves six figure sums on a weekly basis. Personally I would question that if one takes into account his overall achievements. He had a good first half of the season last year and don't get me wrong, he was excellent, exciting to watch and played like a 100K+ a week footballer. But where was the form from January onwards? Does this level of play from him deserve a 100,000+ a week salary? I think that sadly, it's all gone to his head. My 2c Enjoy your weekend
But a french player, and a french manager, in an english league, with 2 english teams, while the player and manager are in asia why would an italian paper know before anyone else?
Exactly the point I was about to make. I think (and don't want to put words in people's mouths here) that some of us are aggrieved that people are getting wound up over idle gossip (even from the BBC site, who often get it from papers) and this can actually have a detrimental effect. How would you feel if you were Nasri and actually wanted to stay but wanted a good deal (remember, we all do this at work) and papers were making things up, which fans then believed and attacked you over? He is getting abuse on Twitter and some people will now boo him if he stays, for being 'disloyal'. Papers don't have consciences, you can see that from the NOTW. Do you really think they care if their story leads to Nasri (or Fab) leaving Arsenal? It's why I keep saying- wait and see what happens, and don't assume anything you read is true.
Cheers- It's what I like about this site, for the most part you can have sensible discussions without all the muppets from the old 606 insulting you for having a different point of view
Do you Arsenal fans think that Nasri will stop if he dosen't get his move to 1 of the Manchester clubs, or will he just stay and then leave for nothing next summer. The other option is to then sell him in January transfer window for something in the region of £4 to £5 million.
