" That has **** all to di with MM's team sekectuin and tactics ffs!!?? " Partially AGREE with Spanish here! Yes, Mick's been given little £££ and done well with what he's had. HOWEVER. He is very stubborn at times and some players seem to be undropable ! This really does have very little to do with £££ The abuse the likes of Tabb / Skuse in particular have been given by all I haven't appreciated. HOWEVER, had Mick taken them out and been a little bit more experimental with others ( How Ambrose has made one start all season is beyond me ) then Mick WOULD receive more backing from others. That's how I see it. While I'm very much in the Mick IN camp, I will agree with that........... !
Why is it bollux you arrogant ****, maybe your talking bolllox!! 6 wins in the last 19, yeah ****ing stupendous, give MM a medal, lmao!! Mick out!! If you dont ****ing like it warky, dont bloody read it!! Oh and there is absolutely no proof that we would have been in league 1, if there is, i would like to see it!! You give me undeniable 100% proof and i will give Mick credit, if not....
I seem to remember someone raving about the signing of Wood, something ME financed, what a bloody waste of money that was!!
Sorry for swearing guys, just get pissed off when idyats like warky say your talking bollox just because you dont agree with his views on his beloved MM!! In his opinion, its everyone elses fault when we lose but not Micks, its down to lack of investment etc etc etc, bullshit, Micks tactics since probably the Charlton game have been pretty poor as has team selection, the thing is, everyone goes ott when we are on a good run and its all praise for Mick but when we go on a bad run.......... Its ME's fault, hilarious!!
TBF to Spanish he does have a point, how can the same bunch of players be as good as they were for half a season and then so bad (at times) for the next, our tactics and team selections since the turn of the year have been questioned by many, including yourself Warky, Woodcstarting ahead of Sears today is a perfect example, Chambers at RB has been questioned by everyone hasn't it?
Good players, wrong positions and tactics. Do we need better players to play Mick's way or should he use the ones we've got in a different method?
The thing that disappoints me more than anything is how bad we were today. Wolves and Brentford also struggled but had the fight to get a draw and a win. I know we've been average at best since the turn of the year but we've been better than we were today for sure. Hope there's a big response now, maybe a final wake up call.
Wow just seen that Friars error!... Yeah it's true, when we were a tight knit bunch it seemed to click so maybe injuries and bringing in players with lack of match time/fitness has taken it's toll.
Or maybe we've been simply 'found out' by teams who have learned how to counter us. We've been pretty one dimensional all season with a lack of plan B if things aren't working.
Maybe welly. I think we played some different football last year though. I remember remarking on how we were actually playing out from the back a few months back. It probably coincided with when Chambo was in the middle. He hoofs it a lot from full back and Tommy launches it too playing on the right side of the centre pairing. We have the quality to play through the park but lump it forwards too often, even when under no pressure. It gifts possession and makes everything so much harder for us.
And there lies the issue, MM does not seem able to come up with a different way of playing, I personally think we have the players to play in any number of ways, including 3 at the back, also on the few occasions we get the ball down and play we not only look good but often get a bit of joy out of it, I have said it before but I think MM suffocates our players and does not let them play with a bit more freedom. Also on the subject of Wood, I really fail to see the point in this signing, wood was pulling up trees for Foxes because he was getting decent service often from wide positions, why MM thought this would be a good signing when all our wide men are either not used or sent out on loan, truly baffling, I can't work out MM thinking on this one!
As you say Hoppers, Mick seems to coach all the attacking intent of good players, focusing more on off the ball positioning and 'doing your bit' defensively. Just let one or two of them run free ffs, there are plenty of grafters to cover for them.
So in a nutshell guys, your all kinda saying, Micks not good enough!! We have the squad to fo the job but Mick is not playing people in their natural positions, nor using the correct formation. His stubborness is stifling us!! On a seperate note, just read this on twtd, thought it a very good read snd dpot on!! Tuesday 30th December- Ipswich 2nd place on 47 points. Norwich and Wolves in 7th and 8th place on 37 points. The Premier League looks like a possibility!! 2015 (Played 17- Won 6; Drawn 3; Lost 8- Points Tally: 21 points out of possible 51): - Derby- Lost 1-0; Millwall- Won 3-1; Brighton- Lost 3-2; Wigan- Drew 0-0; Rotherham- Lost 2-0; Sheffield Wednesday- Won 2-1; Fulham- Won 2-1; Reading- Lost 1-0; Birmingham- Won 4-2; Norwich- Lost 2-0; Leeds- Lost 2-1; Brentford- Drew 1-1; Middlesbrough- Lost 4-1; Bolton- Won 1-0; Watford- Won 1-0; Bournemouth- Drew 1-1; Huddersfield- Lost 2-1. Current position- 8th place (68 points) while Wolves sit in 6th place on 71 points and Norwich sit in 2nd place on 76 points. Where did it go so wrong!! This new year form has been nothing short of a shambles and a significant degree of stubbornness from our manager. Ever since Tommy Smith messed up against Derby in our first match of the year, we just haven't seemed to recover at any point. I have watched the likes of Bournemouth, Watford, Norwich and Brentford this season, and their composure on the ball puts our team to shame. I would say the two Bournemouth centre backs are more accomplished with the ball at their feet than most of our attacking players. The two Bournemouth full backs attack like true attacking full backs unlike our cumbersome Mings and Chambers double act. The other 7 teams who are now deservedly above us in the league table build calmly from the back and are able to create chances and score bundles of goals. All Ipswich seem capable of doing is hoofing the ball to Daryl Murphy and praying that he knocks the ball down to someone else or carries the team as he has all season. Our midfielders need to hang their heads in shame with their goal return record. I see no sign of a Bradley Johnson from Norwich or a Harry Arter from Bournemouth in the Ipswich team, and this is a problem we have suffered from for years. I recall the good early 2000 days of Tommy Miller poaching 10 goals a season, Matt Holland notching key goals, but I've got more chance of scoring from the North Stand lower than Cole Skuse has on the football pitch. I know he is more defensive minded, but at the same time, he needs to at least contribute with some assists. Teddy Bishop is a young lad who has so much potential. Why is he too tired to play 2 games in 4 days???? I played 2 school games in 2 days and if I had told my PE teacher I was too tired for the 2nd game, he would of launched chalk in my direction. Blimey, Mick is quick to take Sears and Bishop out of the starting 11 (our two key players for next season) yet continues with Tommy "No Right Foot" Smith week in week out. Where is the pace in our team? Why has he continued to ignore Paul Anderson, Cameron Stewart, Alex Henshall etc? I'm pretty certain Elliott Hewitt wasn't all that bad as a right back. Certainly more composed than Chambers, who only remains in the team for 2 reasons- his passion and his captaincy. All I have learnt in the 2nd half of the season is that Mick McCarthy has his favourites at Ipswich- Tommy Smith, Luke Chambers, Jay Tabb, Cole Skuse. It may well be in 10 days time that Ipswich have secured 6 points out of 6 against Blackpool and Cardiff, however with Wolves our next away game on Sky, I can only see us crumbling under pressure again. Unless McCarthy's mind-set and game-plan adapts, we will finish in 7th or 8th place.
Just found this on TWTD, a very interesting stat comparing this season to last at the same point in time, progress has been made points wise but as for position in the play off picture you could argue we are actually slightly worse off now rather than then, it does bring into question just how much progress has really been made. Up to the turn of the year I would 100% agree that we had took massive strides forward but this year the wheels have clearly all but come off our wagon. 5 games to go to make sure this is a season of progress, what ever anyone says to me if we don't at least finish within a play off spot I would have to view this season as one of disappointment, you have take into account our position for the considerable time around the turn of the year when we were in the auto positions for a few weeks, to then not finish in the top six has to be viewed with regret doesn't it? http://www.twtd.co.uk/forum/339448/sobering-thought-time.../#5
Morning Hoppers!! As i mentioned earlier, i think i am correct in saying (altho i could be wrong and quite often am) we could be the first team, in the history of playoffs in championship, to be top two at christmas and fail to make the playoffs!! Always the bloody fall guys!!
Hi Spanish, I am still so bloody pissed about yesterday...the most lack lustre performance from players and management team I have witnessed this season, resting players with 6 games to go...FFS they are gonna get all summer off in 4 weeks time!
