He was a better version of Lallana <ok>

Mostly flash, but had some substance.

    Not likely.

Our confidence is completely shot. We desperately need to get a win. But even against Newcastle who has nothing to play for we are going to find it hard going and we'll find it worse away.

Why? Rodgers teams are the typical confidence teams. When things are going badly like in the early season, we don't seem to grind out a win against stubborn opposition <ok>

I say 14 points, at best. Spurs fifth, City Fourth, Uniturd third, Arsenal second. We MAY see off Soton for sixth, but it'll be fingers crossed, imho.

Shone in European games, and was often the creative spark in big games. Remember him against Chelsea in an FA semi being awesome.

Yep, was certainly capable but too inconsistent for my liking.

But as you say, he's better than some of our attackers. <ok>

Isn't it amazing that you (Hash) are targetting City, a team which was supposed to be certainties for top 2 ??

Look start with next game. It's after utd v city so if we are in fa cup semi and beat newkie who seem not to care right now then it's inly 4 points but we'd have to win them all imo

Utd be hilarious if city didn't make it but they will pick up. It's just a matter of when

We are 7 off city now.

to say it will be 10 is not unreasonable on the one hand.. after all all you are saying is lfc will lowe one mroe game than city over 7 games

    However i'd make two points

    1. LFC games are easier than city's

    2. Are LFC bothered given rodgers capitualtion after arsenal?

I think we can get closer to city but i do not see us catching them without them totally ****ing up. They could say draw next 3 in a row for arguments say and we win the 3 and that would gain us 6 points and still not catch them!

We could say that either city lose 3 out of 7 or draw 4 out of 7 while we win all 7 games for this catching to occur.

I do think we can be within 4/5 points of them by the end if we play "acceptably" form now til end.

My minimum acceptable level is 5th. If we slump back i have to say that is not good enough as we need europe football to develop and we NEED to finish as high as possible to improve ourselves somehow. saying ah **** it after 2 defeats shows we would be mentally weak.

    Yes. On paper.

Rodgers said we would be fine when Sturridge come back from injury. Now that he is back, is he the saviour ? No. He was even left on the bench for that crucial match against Arsenal even though he scored our only goal against United. He certanily wouldn't have cocked it up like Markovic/Sterling for that open goal.

Now that our confidence has been shot, Skrtel and Gerrard are suspended, Sterling's head has been turned, are there any easy matches for us anymore?

We should beat Newcastle at home. But they have lambasted recently for being with their flip flops on the beach. Would/Can they react?

We have more away matches than home ones. To expect us to go on a "title winning run in" in our last matches is really wishful thinking.

    Another point:

Both United and us have had key players missing through suspension/imjuries/loss of form. But to me there was a differnce in how Van gaal and Rodgers dealt with this problem.

Van Gaal it seemed looked at the players available and played a system that would suit them to win the points. Rodgers on the other hand kept his system and tried to shoehorn the available players into that system. Without Skrtel, our defence was vulnerable and this could have been predicted. Would any other manager not done it differently?

but............ we were unbeaten for how long and won how many in a row and didn't concede for how long?

a bump in the road occurred... 2 loses due to lack of work ethic and sitting too deep

Confidence might be shot or now... fitness might be an issue, or indeed just plain ego and contracts.

Or we might just not be all that but capable of beating the sides we have next

Newcastle are playing away IF lfc don't beat that lot then we can then say yeah we are toast...

however... my point was simply outlining how unlikely it was not wishful thinking...

van gaal merely selected players in thier right positions. sure credit to win games to all concerned but its not rocket science. Rodgers yes stuck rigidly exactly to system when i think some of us saw it getting less and less effective. I think given the aftermath of utd game and resource available AND 2 full weeks in effect to prepare for the arsenal game that yes you would expect that anyone, rodgers included would have done a better job.

ROFL we need City to lose 4 or 5 games and we win 5 draw 1 and lose 1 out of our last 7

    not
    going
    to

We ****ed our chances when we failed to take a single point off United or Arsenal. Our GD is also shocking having had **** all options upfront so it's not like we can go in level with our rivals. 7 point gap is monumental when you think about it really. It's not going to happen. So much money just spunked up the wall.

    stop being realistic

    5-1-1 = a good record for last 7 games.

all we need is 0-3-4 from city.. <whistle>
