I have discussed this with a friend, who also happens to be an official at another club and even though he is not directly involved in their process he believes this:

An agreement was reached, between the PL and it's members, to set aside £200K each season for a 3yr period and that the £200K should be used to enhance the away supporters experience - either the away supporters at your ground, or the away supporters of your own club - I think it was fairly plain which option clubs were expected (but not obliged) to go for. It is thought the £200K was to be spent annually to boost the experience over a running 3 seasons and not something that could be snowballed. As it was an across the board accord, it is not considered optional and is believed to be a condition of membership which will be reviewed at the end of the 3yr period.. What sanctions are available, or what deadlines, for either intent or action, there are, is not so clear as they are part of the PL internal policies, but we should all keep digging.

I cannot offer this as gospel, but it makes sense to me and seems to be how all other PL clubs have dealt with the initiative.

I think they could claim all manner of things and we will all make our judgement calls, on the manner of any funding, when they decide to tell us what they are; what is utterly frustrating is their obvious contempt for the supporters who travel and their commitment to the team.

    I think you're spot on.

What makes it more frustrating is that it should be fairly straightforward for the club to announce which initiatives they are claiming the ASI money's been used for. It shouldn't take much to maybe even spin it into a good news story.

You always think the club haven't done anything wrong. Your interpretation of that article in assuming that is was one lump sum for 3 years is nonsense. The agreement is for three years, but it doesn't say anything more than that.

The club are completely ripping us off on this but you're desperately trying to find a way to rationalise it. The owners hate us so we're not getting it, it's that simple.

I cannot support the clubs actions without knowing the facts, nor can I condem them.

Read my post again, I say the club has not done anything wrong, IF.

I also read this on the Federation web site. clubs have set aside a pot of £12m over the next three seasons which will be used to make games more affordable for away fans, whether it’s for their own or visiting supporters. This equates to £200,000 per club, per season - See more at: http://www.fsf.org.uk/latest-news/view/premier-league-away-fans-fund#sthash.ToKFrpYJ.dpuf
Surely this can be read both ways, clubs have to spend 200k per season or that clubs have set aside a sum that equals 200k per season, ie 600k.
I also took the time to read this article : lhttp://www.wearepremierleague.com/2014/04/how-clubs-spend-200k-away-fans-fund.html

There seems to be a grey area in how the fund is financed and controlled when you look at the media. The FWG asked and it should have been told by now. There should be an open book policy on things like this.
If it turns out that not enough money has been used by the end of this season and there is no planning that shows it being spent next season, I will join in the complaints. Until then I will only complain that the FWG has not been updated.

That's a good point Obi. But without the figures and a plan going forward, how can the supporters be sure?

Anything positive from the club would be a good news story.

Perhaps you could use you new 'official' status to talk to your 'official' colleagues to reap the benefit of being an 'official' supporter by getting us all some 'official' gen on what is 'officially' happening?
I'm not 'officially' holding my breath as I know they treat all supporters, regardless of 'official' they are, with total contempt.

They can't, which is the problem.

I thought when they talked about making a loss last season it meant the cost of providing free travel was greater than £200,000 because of the take up. From what Fez says the losses make sense if its £200,000 each year but we don't have a club which is open with the supporters. I don't blame James Mooney as he only passes on what he's been told.

Wouldn't that be something James Mooney would know, without needing to be told?

Not if he keeps getting told different things about how we are going to spend the money and when. So for example he may have been told we'd get flags and t-shirts at Swansea and passed that on. He may then have been told we're not going to get flags and t-shirts, so we didn't.

He should know if we have £200,000 per season to spend or £6,000 over 3 seasons. He should know how much the initiatives last season cost, but has anyone asked him those questions? If they haven't then I don't blame him for not telling us.

The club isn't some monolithic bureaucracy. Ask the right questions and you may get the right answers. Until someone shows that James Mooney is deliberately lying to us I think he should have the benefit of the doubt.

It's £200k a season, agreed by all clubs and so far, we've not announced any offer using the ASi money. We've been fobbed off and lied and it's disgraceful.

because we have spent it quietly ... at home .. ? *no wind up but as the Prem rules state .. its away fans expierence .. not sending our fans who can die when they want to games on the cheap

we have looked after away fans .. just not ours .. they are irrelevant after all :)

If it can be spent on away fans at the KC, that maybe explains why I saw our stewards giving out free scarves to away fans - can't remember who it was against now, but remember it was a team in blue and white - so either Everton, Chelsea or QPR.

He was asked at the FWG how much was left. He didn't know, and the wording of his answer implied that it hadn't even been decided.

It was Everton, but I'm 90% sure they were being handed out by guys in Everton jackets. Don't think it had anything to do with City.

Why not blame him, or hold him accountable for what he does for a living? His LinkedIn entry shamelessly describes him as the Marketing and On-Line Commercial Manager of Hull City Tigers; although it also describes him as the Marketing and Online Commercial Manager at Hull City, as well as these:

    Check him out here

He seems to be confused about what he does and who he works for, as you must understand this is his professional profile that he puts together himself - not too impressive considering the line of work he is in.

No. I do not trust this guy to be sincere or accurate when I take this into account with the bullshit he pushes for a living.

The joys of managment, you get kicked from both sides.
However no matter what your level is you should stand your ground and fight to do your job as best as you can.
