Garth Crooks writes on the BBC web-site: "This was a game QPR had to win and they needed a cool-headed Joey Barton back in the heart of their team to do it. The tackle on Saido Berahino, followed by an even better challenge on Darren Fletcher, which led to the corner from which Charlie Austin scored QPR's second goal, told you all you needed to know where the captain's intentions were. Barton then was felled by Mulumbu in a way that might have seen other players leave the field, only to recover and put the game beyond the Baggies with a well-taken finish himself. If QPR can keep Barton out of trouble and focused on the task in hand, he can lead QPR to safety."
Yes he is liable to lose the head, yes he is liable to accumulate yellow and red cards but............ I have always said that on his day he is a decent player. We need him playing well in the 7 cup finals that are left. Rather him in the team than out of it. Well done Joey.
After his moment of madness at Hull, not quite sure he deserves POTY but he is definitely amongst our best players when he has been on the pitch.
MOTM against Everton and one of them at WBA. We really need him in all seven games, but he (please correct me if I am wrong) is on nine yellows and will get a two match ban with his tenth. Worried?
Isn't there some rule that stops that happening in April, or am I just being hopeful. I imagine Henry is pretty close too.
Just did some checking up and Barton needs to get through Villa and the Scum game without getting a yellow to avoid a suspension. There is a cut off date for ten yellows, 2nd Sunday in April. Any chance of him not getting booked in these two games? Err, no!
