    Or not LOL

Ended up going to Fairyhouse and have to say it was a great day but for the fact I done my bollocks on this race for the third year.... Noble Prince and Ballycasey were the previous scallys but at least they had the good grace to fall when looking likely to win! Was so tempted to do a little saver on Gilgamboa as he's a class act when he gets his conditions ie soft ground and the intermediate trip but of course I didn't. I'm glad he won though, I do like him and he showed today he's a Grade One horse. What a run by another old friend The Tullow Tank. Not one to critise jockeys (I don't have an ambulance following me at my work) but you'd have to say with a more postive ride he would have won but again nice to see him back to his best. Smashing run a blinder too and it just makes me think what a freak Un de Sceaux is, as he trounced the winner and third in a canter.

Shaneshill was all class and again you think what a compliment that pays to Douvan. I had a nice bet on young Fry's Bitofapuzzle and the result was never in doubt, lovely positive ride by Fehily drawing the sting out of them a long way out. Thank god for Mullins in the bumper too but with the way it drifted I only had tuppence on compared to what I'd otherwise have.

Didn't back AP on Sir Scopion even though I had him my second strongest bet of the day lol Did young Joseph intentionally fall of the other JP runner, it looked the softest of falls to me...

I backed VL as a late attempt Beefy but didn't wanna dampen your spirits last night by telling you Mullins has never won the race before, it was formerly the Powers gold cup and as much as he tried it still eludes him. I'm sure next year he will have another pop though. Couldn't believe the drift for the Mullins bumper, especially when it goes and wins but there ya go.

The fact he has yet to win it hadn't eluded me STH, in fact its probably one of the few things we have in common lol I strangely didn't fancy VL or AS at all as I touched upon in my first post. Was sure the JLT we would have left a mark. The mare looked in control turning in, I thought anyway, but it was quickly apparent she was running on empty when Rupert give her a squeeze :(

Yeah the drift tempered my enthusiasm and confidence on the Mullins horse. Looked tidy in obliging, pretty sure the second and third won't be long getting off the mark <ok>

<laugh> The new name was actually 1 letter too long so I had to pick one to delete, chose the "u" in just.

That Powers Gold Cup was a grade 1 in name only Beefy. Of the best horses in the race, one fell and the other ran no race. The winner fell over the line and TTT would have won by about 5 lengths in another 50 yards. He has been well beaten in proper Grade 1s this year so the form looks Grade 2 level at best.

I worked the missing u out! Didn't look the strongest Grade One to me either but I do think Gilgamboa is a Grade One animal when conditions suit, ie today. Bit harsh to mark the race down on The Tullow Tank's poor runs in this years Grade Ones as I'm pretty sure he's been below par in them all, bar today. Who knows what AS would have done but his only previous disappointing chase run was here in the Drinmore so I don't think he'd have been involved. Who knows, its just our opinions. It's classified as a Grade One race anyway lol

Ruby went too fast up front. A rare misjudgement of pace. Set it up perfectly for Apache. I was rubbing my hands the whole way till he bloody fell! Apart from that you have the winner and second both off the bridle miles out. Either Gitane is a bridle monkey or didn't stay.

I wonder if Gilgamboa would have won under UK whip rules? AP certainly got the best out of him, he looked well beat at the 2nd last. What was with The Tullow Tank though? He ran the last 100 yards quicker than Frankel <yikes>

    <cheers> STH

Don't think The Tullow Tank's run would have surprised many Oddy, his last run hinted at a return to form after a couple of shockers. The engine was always there, his second behind Vautour in the Deloitte and the way he closed him down was memorable. If they could sort the jumping out he'll be hard to beat round that trip next season. Those were the best intermediate novices around yesterday (except Vautour) though obviously a couple fluffed their lines.

Is it right Vautour runs Punchestown not the 2m4 race at Aintree Uxizandre won last year? If he goes Punchestown I'm pretty sure he'll have to go 3miles. Testing his stamina there, it's what they done last year too.

Not heard owt about Vautour targets Beefy but I think they see him as their Gold Cup horse next year so it wouldn't surprise to see him up in trip <ok>

He'll be in the Gold Cup alright unless he blows up like Fever did in the KG. Seems he will go 3m at Punchestown with Aintree off the table now. Interesting to see how he gets on, very exuberant. You'd wonder if he's boatlike enough to win a Gold Cup!
