    who would it be?

For me it would be someone to compete with coquelin.

    Schneiderlin or Kondogbia.

My vote goes for schneiderlin as he knows PL.

    Aside from the obvious..1.Lionel Messi 2.C Ronaldo 3. M.Neuer 4.Ibrahimovic 5. Luis Suarez.

    I would go with either..

    Lewandowski or Mats Hummels

Ya I meant realistic targets of course.

Hummels? For the first time in a long time I wasn't nervous when Kos the boss went off. It feels like Gabriel can really provide the backup needed or even take mertesackers place.

U think that's a player we need? Or you just like him which makes it fair enough.

Got a horrible feeling that Cazorla might be off to Athletico Madrid this summer, that link never dies and I think Santi might be tempted to return to a big club in his country.

Petr Cech. I really want us to have one solid world class GK, something we have been lacking for a very long time....Ospina has done well since he's been in the side, but I wouldn't rank him as world class up there with the best. Someone like Cech would bring so much more stability to the spine of the team.

I know you said 1 player, but imagine if we could sign Cech and Hummels, our defensive structure would be so much more stronger and so much more solid, and then we'd have good back up like Gabriel and Mert. U give me a defensive line up of Cech, Hummels, Kos, and Coq, and I'm feeling safe.

Think you might be right that he is leaving this summer. But isn't Kevin more of a winger?

he would be a big miss!

If we lose Santi then we definitely need another creative midfielder. Marco Reus would be ideal.

If that doesn't happen then I'd go for Schneiderlin. I think Coq has done really well, but an injury to him and we're really light again in DM position. Also against Liverpool Coq was exposed quite often with Ramsey and Ozil pushing forward. I know we won comfortably, but a better side would have exposed the holes in our MF. I'd love to see Schneiderlin and Coq sitting in there together when needed in the same way that he does with Wanyama at Southampton.

    Hummels is a 'realistic' target.
Dortmund have had a nightmare Season and we seems to be adding a BIG name every Summer now.

If we can sign Ozil and Sanchez then we can sign Hummels!

I don't think we NEED a centreback mind you but Mertesacker will decline very quickly. It could still take a couple more years (this comes down yo genetics really) but It could start to happen a lot sooner. Tall athletes nearly always decline at a quicker rate.
I think Hummels will leave Dortmund and would hate to see him at United because for me.. He is the best centreback in World Football.

If we were only allowed one signing then it would have to be in the one area which would most increase our chances of actually getting anywhere near one of the two big trophies.

    So therefore... Guardiola

The thread clearly says if we could add one PLAYER. You don't have to make every thread into a dig at wenger lol

It's no more of a dig at Wenger as any other suggested player is a dig at someone who already plays in that position for us.

But yes, I suppose if I have to stick to the rules of the game then Kondogbia

Hummels has well and truly stagnated at Dortmund and has been exposed defensively way too many times, he has not been the best CB in Germany let alone the world in the last one and half years.

Have to be a DM type enforcer with decent passing skills, so one of - Schliners, Bender, Martinez, Kong. I think a good DM is a very achievable target for us next year, compared to say a top CF. The first two names should be very realistic targets. I think getting a quality DM would make a significant improvement in our squad and for once, make a position that has been weak, competitive.

It has to be Roy Race but I doubt very much that Rovers would sell him to us. ;)

He's not been amazing this Season(but neither has anyone in this Dortmund side).. but he's still the best in the World in my Opinion.

He would be a massive improvement on Mertesacker.

He was not amazing last season either, so not sure how he can be the best CB in the world based on his performances, Diego Godin deserves that title for his performances over the last season and a half, he has outshone Hummels. Mertsacker on his own might not be great, but he does have a good combination with Kos and after Wenger brought Gaberial, I can't see him spending big money on a CB anyway.
