Need a bit of help please fellas... I'm off to my first point-to-point meeting tomorrow and I'm guessing tight vest, pink shorts and flip-flops would probably be an inappropriate outfit to wear?! I'm thinking wellies, trousers, shirt/sweater and jacket is the way to go. Going with a new squeeze so I want to look semi-presentable. Binned the last one by the way, she was having none of that threesome with her sister, selfish cow So, if there are any budding Gok Wan's out there, a bit of advice would be much appreciated The meet I'm going to is the 'North Cotswold' at Paxford, Gloucestershire so if anyone has access to cards or is well informed, some tips would come in handy otherwise I'm resorting to my usual methods of colours, names and numbers Cheers fellas!!
You would get some looks in the first mentioned attire I think once you have the ol' wellies sorted anything is acceptable then once your comfortable. Have a good day, you might get some info off someone and make it a profitable day on track.
If you are wearing wellies make sure they are Hunter! You will find its all pretty relaxed Drever. Dress for comfort and be prepared for a bit of walking. The racecards are pretty accurate and give good form guides though you will have to get the entries before each race and don't expect any generosity from the bookies. Somewhere in the card should be the "area table" and you will get a good idea from that who is worth following. You may even see some familiar names, Camilla Henderson and the like. Its a good day out so enjoy!
Hello fellas and Happy Easter Only one for tomorrow but a confident one in the hardest race of the day: 500 Fairyhouse Perfect Gentleman 12/1 Mullins is in fantastic form and this one ran well for a long way at Chelts. Nice weight and Ruby on board. 245 Fairyhouse Dicosimo 6/4 Ran well for along way at Cheltenham nd i think he could be a superstar in the making as hes a shell of a horse at the moment. Should outclass these. 635 Fairyhouse Ice Cold Soul 7/2 Brother to Outlander, this one started off really well and I can see him beating the favourite. 430 Redcar Kyllach Me 6/1 Smart is in fantastic form and this one has won his last 2 and should win this for the hatrick
An improved effort under rules is expected from Windy Millie in the Cork 4:05 @ 7/1. In the Irish National I've plumped for Lots Of Memories at 14/1. His first effort in handicap company in this sphere and the longer trip really should bring out the best in him. He's got a touch of class and has been tried in some hot races this season and can surely make his presence felt among this lot.
My sister in law is backing Rule The World in the Irish National as she's a massive take that fan. As good a way as any to pick one out I suppose.
Interesting to see Al Kazeem out tomorrow over in france and even more so with Ryan on board, I know he didn't look the same horse as he did before his stud career went so badly but champions day we did see abit of the old horse and it is only a gr2, he should like the ground and has the best form and should be hard to beat but no bet for me will watch and enjoy wonder what targets he has surely he has to win this tomorrow
One of McCoy's last appearances in Ireland tomorrow as a jockey. I was supposed to be there tomorrow but cannot make it now unfortunately. Been lucky to see him numerous times in the past and I would love to see him bag at least one more good win tomorrow to say adios to his legion of followers who I'm sure will make the trip to Fairyhouse to see him off tomorrow. Cantlow would be the one most will latch onto but any win would be poignant I would imagine. Doubt we will see the likes of him ride on these shores in our lifetimes again at least.
McCoy said today when interviewed he would likely be riding there on Tuesday STH if you're keen to see him off
I think Dedigout at 9/4 looks reasonable value in the 3.20. He's one who would ideally like further but the ground was plenty soft enough today and surely won't dry out that much tomorrow. A slog in the soft is what this animal relishes and with the great old servant Thousand Stars in the line up he looks guaranteed to get a decent gallop. It looks a very winnable Grade 2 as the opposition look modest with a capital M.
Was a tough choice but my main selection and now that everyone will be taking note it will now lose is MISTER GREZ (NAP) in the first at Chepstow he was entered in a couple of other races but this is definitely the easiest of his choices he had, first of all even tho I am not a big fan of the jockey (in the fact I think he has bit of a big head- he is talented) Is a very talented horse and for a novice hurdler as a lot of experience in jumping has won some chases and has won a couple of novice handicaps so really he is only a novice by name which should count. Will run the from front and will try and run the legs of the field who may not be able to cope and find a few flat footed. He is carrying a penalty and concedes weight all around but Sean takes of 5lbs of the penalty and after his treble on Saturday he is on fine form and altho the stable is lacking winners of late my selection should get him off the mark on a very important week! My selection for the IRISH Grand National EMPIRE OF DIRT- 14/1 EW is again playing owners 3rd string but that didn't stop him winning lto (put him up that day too) A horse very much on the up , improved to win a 15 runner 2 1/2m 45 days ago when beating Champagne James who although didn't run great at Cheltenham did go off favourite that day (and few others of this field and is still on better terms than them too) has young Luke Dempsey taking off an important 5lbs he has had what seems a perfect trial to this and although is yet to race this far he is bred that this distance will pose no problems aswell his last runs he seemed to have more in the tank which it seems the extra distance will bring out more improvement, is unexposed at this trip and wouldn't be the first time to out run his owners 1st and second string.
definitely a race between the top 2, I am with old boy TS looks a pick on the weights and trained by the master with this probably as the target one more big prize in his locker surely!
