There's a lot of hullabaloo going on about Bellusci being blamed for 2 goals and Cooper for the other. Make your own minds up, bare in mind that 2 of the goals were scored after Redders removed our left and right backs after Austin got his marching orders, thus leaving our 3 remaining defenders over stretched and with more ground to cover.
We didn't play particularly well at any point in the game, but Blackburn certainly weren't any better than us until the (very stupid) red card. I don't think you can blame Redfearn too much, he changed to 5 at the back with wing backs to give us more protection and still offer an offensive threat out wide, but Blackburn made their extra man count and took advantage of some relatively slack defending. Had Byram and Taylor actually remembered their defensive duties rather than continuing to play as wingers after the red card, the three centre halves wouldn't have been so stretched. Redfearn's fault? Possibly, but he's not responsible for the decision making of his players once they cross the line onto the pitch. Bellusci didn't have a great game but that doesn't make him a bad player - if anyone is to blame, it's Austin. To be honest, I don't think we would've picked up anything even if Austin had remained on the pitch - I just knew Cairney would score.
Any thing I'd blame Redders for is playing 4/5/1 with a striker up front who hasn't scored a goal in two years
He did score for Millwall last season, to be fair to him I agree though, he's not doing it. If Redfearn can't play Antenucci, I'd at least give Doukara or Montenegro another go
4/5/1 at home against a midtable blackburn who weren't interested in anything other than getting through the game unscathed for the bin dippers in the cup on Wednesday.. Disgusting, inept and reason enough to kick clueless out.
Don't know if anyone else noticed, but when Cooper came on, our 3 CBs had a protracted discussion in the middle of the park, with much finger pointing. They clearly had no idea of their roles, and later events proved that they'd never played as a 3 on the training ground. Something else Redders has to answer for,
That was under McDermott, and none of these 3 were playing for us then! Redders has never played 3 at the back, and it showed!
