I agree Dai, he's still our player, we should at least take a look at him to see if he's up to it. I'm sure nobody would be complaining if he finds his form again. What have we got to lose ? It's not as if anyone is going to be banging the door down for him at the moment anyway.

Same was true of Taylor yet he kept being played even when we had better alternatives - we even sold a better player to give him all the time he wanted.

There is not a straight comparison here. Taylor was fit but was kept out of the team by Ben all of last season (not through brilliant performances by Ben, just decent enough to not warrant dropping) - effectively Taylor wasn't played for one season bar the odd game even though he had his fitness back. Ben was sold primarily to get Siggy back, not to give Taylor more game time. Taylor being given the LB shirt was the afterthought, although a decent one. Taylor underperformed for half of this season before he's pretty much back to his best now - he's still not brilliant, but he's playing as well as he was prior to injury.

The difference with Michu is that he's still injured, albeit very close to healed now. So to compare him and Taylor you'd have to see if Michu is happy to sit on the bench behind Siggy for all of next season before we sell/swap Siggy "to give Michu more game time".

I've no idea how long his loan period is for. If it's until the end of the season let's get him back here and have a look at him and the medics assess him. As a small club we can't afford to give up on players who have proven ability at this level. Monk needs to sit him down and have a long chat imo. If he wants to come back, let's wipe the slate clean and give him a go.

I wasn't happy with his attitude when he left but he's done enough for us to have earned another go imo.

Taylor hasn't been very poor. He's been solid most of the season and has improved each game. To compare him to Michu is laughable.

Wouldn't get in our team now anyway <ok>

Must be on a very good wages too. Sell him and that would free up a lot of money that could be put towards Bony's replacement.

We also can't afford to have someone so injury prone and past his best either. Plus £40,000 a week in wages (that's what I'm assuming he's on) is a lot for us to pay a player who will only make the bench for us.

We just cant dismiss a player like michu without first looking what he can do for us, That would be stupid should he sign for another premiership club and starts to perform the way he did for us....we need to find out first....he is far too talented to just let go....

He was ready enough to dismiss us and in my opinion 'walked out' on us. His career is in tatters and he needs us more than we need him. Sell him back abroad and free up huge wages to entice someone who wants to play for us.

At least he's still playing, so has a value to somebody, that could be us, so maybe we should look at him again before getting rid?

I'm assuming Michu's injury has been overcome as he has claimed it to be the case - if it isn't then he should consider retiring but if it is healed only an idiot would keep Michu on the bench.
As for Taylor, I have to say up front I'm not a fan but have given him MoM a couple of times recently. A good defender on his day but my main concern is to do with attitude.
Taylor was moaning about moving and Ben leaving was a helpful way for Monk to sort out a problem; we could easily have met Spus' valuation on Siggurdson without releasing Davies. Even when we started looking at replacements / alternatives at left back in January our Neil's agent started talking about moves away (again). What happens when his contract talks come along? Four Premier League teams are supposed to be interested in him! Is this new? No, Taylor was angling for a move away from the Swans after his first season here too.
Since the season began Taylor has only performed well sporadically & we have only seen him being effective when Ki has been on top of his game. We even had people on this site saying he needed 'time to get over his injury' - that was December 2014 and after something like 30 games. If he did come back would Michu be given 30 games+ 'to get over his injury'? I doubt it.
Montero has even been kept out of the side because he's not used to having to offer defensive support to the extent Taylor requires (See Montero's comments about defending) but, in fairness to Taylor, that may be because of the way Monk wants him to play.
Since January Gylfi has dropped off and has, for much of the season, looked shattered after 60 minutes - pretty much how he performed at Spurs. On his day a match winner but those days are less frequent as the season goes on (I am being pickie but it is general terrace talk).
Having Gylfi and Michu available would be wonderful.

The club was manager-less or might has well have been the way laudcrap was more interested in his TV work and nobody was taking control. Training the little that there was was done by the captain (monk) who did not have some of the players backing and it caused a rift between some of the players.......Michu acknowledges today what the captain was trying to do with no manager at the training ground. ..The only leadership coming was from monk.......

Sounds like a player who knows he's past his best and is anchoring for a return back to us because he knows he won't have any decent offers.
Michu threw his toys out of the pram and left. If he comes back he'll be riding the bench. How long would it be before he started throwing his toys again? For me, we have a united squad who are working extremely hard for each other and Monk. No need to risk the work Monk has done by bringing back a potential disruptive influence. If he still had the ability to perform at the highest level at his best, Napoli would be keeping him <ok>
