Since arriving Jonjo has divided opinion, and many have switched their opinion multiple times.

So with the season nearly over how do you feel about our midfield enforcer?

*Votes are not public so you can vote without any backlash from others.
    *Votes can be changed.
*The vote will close September 2015, the end of the summer transfer window.

In January I would have sold him. Today I'd like to keep him.

I've always though he's a quality player, can be temperamental and looks to be a player who like the arm around the shoulder biging him up. His passing range is second to non, yes he does try the hollywood ball, but it only has to work once and we rep the benefit of it.

I think the arm around the shoulder thing will be here to stay, he is an introvert. If you were to see him in his home village you'd say "who is that?" because he wears the hoody up etc due to his shyness. Really really nice bloke, you have to engage him though and people need to understand that outside of football he is what he is. Thankfully he does seem to come alive and out of his shell on the pitch, almost unrecognisable compared to the off field Jonjo!

I've met him and he is painfully shy, but on the pitch he needs some consistency. Capable of genius, prone to idiocy.

That said he's one of the few players we have who is prepared to have a go from distance, and we need that in our tool box. He has immense ability but needs to channel it better and I think that may well come as he matures. I like him and wouldn't want to lose him. I voted 1 but wouldn't say he's 'critical'. We wouldn't be relegated without him but he's directly brought us 12 - 15 points this season (an estimation, I haven't analysed it) and that's significant.

It says it all that gerard told him to say as he was to be his successor. I think monk has worked a blinder with him in coaxing and pushing him / tslking to him as his interview on sport wales a couple of weeks ago he spoke so well about himself and how monk had made him realise what he needs to do but he is one of the first names on the sheet now i feel. What we forget is he is still learning and getting better with time frighteneing keep up the good work jonjo.

We must keep Shelvey and also we must stop judging him as if he is a polished diamond, he's not. He is still a youngster.

    Marvin Emnes - May 27, 1988 26

Shelvey is still learning and growing up in front of us all. He should be getting mucho kudos for the way he's got his head down and handled himself on the pitch since his indiscretions and his GF's screech on twitter. Since then he's put in some serious work and has turned himself around from being an accident waiting to happen into a player who can positively change a games fortune with one shot.

    hope we can keep him

It always surprises me to see his age, he seems to have been around for so long that I expect him to be 25 years old.

    He's 23 - hardly a youngster any more.
Come on, one or two shots and three decent passes per game against 75 minutes of wayward passing, not heading, poor positioning, moaning, slowing the ball down and over hit long balls.

A player who has contributed significantly more than Sigurdsson in recent months. The new formation seems to suit him.

I must admit I found Shelvey's early games very frustrating, couldn't believe a Liverpool player could be so poor at short passing, that and his brain storms on the pitch, I really thought we had bought a big mistake, but recently I have been forced to change my mind, yes he is relatively young and raw, but I'm starting to see in him a very good box to box engine with the potential of a killer goal, and I really see him growing with Monk and the rest of our coaching staff, so I have voted to keep him, he definitely gives us other options in plan b or c to.

PS: now for something completely different, Monk has favoured his best bookies pal Routledge all season, and he has also given him the second striker mop up roll, now while I do not wish to sound negative but Routledge just doesn't have enough clinical finish in his locker for this roll, especially this season, which in my humble view has not been his best.

So why is Monk leaving out the best option for this roll in Emnes? What has Emnes got to do to get game time? I had hoped that Emnes would have come on on Saturday, but instead we got a crocked Dyer, who at the minute should not be playing, so sort it out Monk, and stop favouring your Bookies mate................<ok>

Huge fan of shelvey who has to play in every league game if fit......a very talented player who puts a lot of fear into any opposition with his long range shots and pin point accurate long passing....has to be one of swans best signings......

Before this new system i'd have said we should sell him in the summer. Credit to Monk, he has found a system that allows Ki, Cork, Gylfi and Jonjo play together and Jonjo is reaping the benefits. Still needs to improve on the accuracy and speed of his passing though, but at present, he's undroppable <ok>

Wow, we have a manager who picks the team keep his mates happy! Surely not.
The reason Jonjo is getting so much game time is we have no alternatives (so much for the best squad ever) - yesterday he did what? One shot that Ki got a rebound from and that was pretty much it. We could take the view that Ki wouldn't have scored without the Jonjo shot or we could take the view we could have scored more with an active midfield player in place of Shelvey. The jeers that came through loud and clear (not on when we are winning 2 -1 IMO) were mainly down to Jonjo's wasteful passing, Dyer's inability to pass a player and Taylor's insistence on passing backwards.
    Opinions and arguments.
But until Jonjo realises he can't get through games as if he's the only consideration, he can't accurately hit 40 yard passes and other players can't pass the ball through an opponent I will have little time for him.

Jonjo hits plenty of good passes, Bob - I think you just have a selective memory.

...and however much you dislike it, you need to accept you are in the minority on this subject.

He's the same age as Amat and Bartley and we still class them as developing youngsters Bob

I think your describing how he was in December but I haven't seen any such thing since. His performances have improved dramatically and he is now making positive contributions to each game he plays. Befor I'd be worried if he was on the bench but credit to him, he's developed and progressed to become a shoe in starter along side Ki, Cork and Siggy, in midfield. Long may it continue.
