This will not be a popular statement but the officer would still be alive if she stuck to the law and waited for the traffics lights to show the green man.

Accidence happen every few seconds and that's what this is...a tragic accident. .The kingsway is what is known as a black spot as the system there has been changed more times than tattoo Sheila's knickers..(god rest her soul) and anyone can have a laps of concentration and think the system is one way when it is not.....I hope now the relevant bodies can get together and sort something out once and for all like re routing buses and taxi's and making the side going towards the old top rank pedestrian only and the other side can be a two way for shoppers only who can make their way to the NCC. That way you would just have one main road to cross and you know it will be two way with no buses or taxi's to worry about

All twelve of the previous serious and fatal incidents were down to pedestrians running a gauntlet whilst the traffic lights for the vehicles showed green. I expect this one to be no different at all.

It's a safe assumption. Don't forget that people are assuming that it is the road at fault instead of looking at how the accidents are occurring.

You can't assume anything with an RTA. That's why we have accident investigators. Seems to me that lots of opinions here are based on one picture.

Whatever the case a person has died and whereas the bus driver may not be at fault at all it's a possibility and the truth will come out. Whoever caused the accident (and somebody did) the confusing road system doesn't help. I think we can agree on that.

It's a fair assumption though, let's look at it like this, we have traffic coming down two lanes in the wrong direction, as we are British we look to our right first, then the left, some could have a temporary block and are half way of making a step to the road.

Then on the other side of the carriage way we have two way traffic that involve busses, with a very small pavement separating those two. We also have all traffic diverted onto the kingsway heading towards the uplands from the east and north of the city.

So with increased traffic, there is a fair assumption that with this factor and others that a lot that is happening there is because of the traffic policy of the council. So in the past 2 years there have been 2 fatalities there, I'm wracking my brain here but I can't remember anyone being killed there under the old system, and remember there was far more pedestrians as there were more businesses open on the kingsway.

So imo the accidents are occurring because of madcap decisions made by civil servants who probably are not there any longer. I was once speaking to someone who made decisions concerning traffic in another place up in England, he couldn't believe how badly the centre of swansea is, all those traffic lights, one way systems and bus lanes. I tend to agree with him .

I do agree that rhe road system is insane here, and I myself do not like what they have done to the Kingsway and wish it was restored with the Bendy Bus consigned to history. I agree that all the traffic lights are unnecessary and they should be removed. I see in other cities I see barriers alongside the busiest roads, we used to have them a long time ago but our councillors removed them.

It's four lanes of traffic going in two separate directions with a big pavement in the middle. Not exactly as tricky as solving a Rubik's cube blindfolded is it?

The council need to ignore this tawdry, sales generating Evening Post manufactured outrage the same way they did when the idiots were demanding fences all around the marina when drunks were plunging in there on a regular basis.

No it's 2 lanes of traffic going in the wrong direction, then it's two way traffic in the other lanes, so 3 lanes going one way and 1 lane going the other way. As for the central reservation it is quite small. You try negotiating this when you are distracted, such as having kids with you.

The council most certainly should not be ignoring this, if they do it will just show how far out of touch of reality they are. This bendy bus crap has been ongoing for years, they still can't get people to use it in numbers.

It's a stupid bloody system, all built around those ridiculous bendy buses, and another mess from Swansea city council, is there any other city authority so inept as ours?

That's the Prince of Wales dock. Not the Marina. You can tell because it says "Prince of Wales dock" in the article.
