http://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sport/watfordfc/watfordfcnews/11719865._/ Still looking for an English coach then.... much needed.
It's funny - with over half the season gone we are in the play off places; yet we are all very nervous and unsure of our team. At least nobody else could accuse us of being over confident. Are we all just reacting on a "last game syndrome"? Unfortunately I don't think so -we need to believe in Jokanovic and at the moment that is hard to do. Win one , lose one, play well for 45 minutes, play rubbish for 45 minutes - itis not consistent and that is what makes teams good.
Maybe true - but since Gibbs went to Millwall it hasn't really helped their results, they've lost all 4 league games and drew in the FA Cup. Maybe he wasn't the answer for Watford then. We are a mixed bag the the moment - that is for sure - how we are still in 6th just shows how high expectations have risen.
Well, the events with the head coach(es), and all the reported unrest must have a lot to do with the nervousness. I'm not sure it has actually affected the performances. I think they are down to how we cope with the opposition - sometimes well, sometimes badly. It's that simple. The players are good, but not great, the system gets neutralised, we miss certain qualities, highlighted by Guedioura when he settled and also I think by the early loss of tamas. If Layun can deliver the guedioura effect - although Sat didn't look promising - and Vydra can remenber that he's supposed top shoot, things will look a whole lot better. But also, we, the supporters, seem to have decided early on, that our squad is good enough to walk into the Prem. So we are all, I think, suffering from over-expectation. Not helped by Duxbury saying, apparently, that 2nd would be a failure. Therefore, every loss is a disaster, every poor patch of play is the failure of the coach, the system, the weather, the ref, and not least whether I wear my lucky hat. If we were hopeful, rather than expectant, things might look a lot better. however, I do think that our playing style is going to have this effect on us all season. I don't think our players or our style imposes itself on other teams. On any given day, we are either better than them, or we are not. It is ,dare I say it, a bit european. When SJ changes things with substitutions, he is changing the personnel because they play differently (Anya for Pudil, Ighalo for Vydra), and maybe the system changes, but the level of urgency stays the same, pretty much. Anyway, I think Derby , strengthening well and staying strong, are the ones to catch. As it happens, we can certainly catch all the others.
I am curious as to the difference between Rangers & Newcastle - Mike Ashley.... and our ownership. Scotland is a different league so should he not be able to own both clubs as the Pozzo's do and other multi football club owners do? What (apart from the Scottish FA) is stopping it and will such a decision or change in FA law in the future affect us?
Ashley has a <9% stake in Rangers and has been given dispensation of the SFA Udinese, Granada and Watford are, legally, owned by three different people so I believe that particular legal barrier does not exist. Many Premier clubs have trade agreements with foreign teams, just that we three are a bit closer knit.
Just seen the highlights. We should loan them Gilmartin and Lloyd. Between them they would have stopped at least four of the goals.
I would welcome some of our home grown talent developing abroad - this is not going to happen unless Granada drop down a division or the Pozzos acquire another team.
