WTF? I came on here to post some stuff and it was 0-0! Are the Arsenal players trying to justify the £64?
I just scrolled to the bottom of the BBC match thread, shows a pic of the away fans holding a banner about paying £64 a ticket, the stand is full though so I guess they decided to the banner instead of staying out!
All things considered, that's pretty poor support, which is a huge shame. I'm slightly baffled by the statement that die hard fans can afford to travel to the game, and presumably sit in a pub drinking, but can't afford tickets. I get £65 is taking the piss, and I agree prices should be lower, but I'm not surprised there's a lack of general public support for these types of protests. That's symptomatic of society in general. Not really sure what can be done tbh other than trying to get politicians onboard, but I guess in general, football fans are seen as a poison chalice. Boycotting games won't help, especially the top 6 clubs, because there's a queue of people wanting those seats.
F For once I agree But surely to keep selling the Prem overseas they want to show the grounds full don't they
The problem is, at the top end, the grounds always will be full. We can talk about working class game and working class fans, and core supporters etc all day long, bottom line is, they don't matter any more, not in respect of the bottom line which is money. The waiting list alone at clubs like the Manchesters, Chelseas and Arsenals for season tickets are mind boggling. Quite simply, they can fill their stadiums every week in the league regardless of who they've pissed off. The working class tag for football is long gone, it's never coming back. We might think we're the life blood of the club, and that in the event of relegation the club will have problems, as we're the only ones who will be around, but they gamble on staying up I think, and in that respect, we're irrelevant in the grand scheme, to all clubs. The fans are just a back drop, the money is in the TV rights and sponsorship deals, we're not valuable enough to matter, even at 65 quid a ticket. I think the best we can hope for is for the owners or rulers of the clubs to grow a conscience, but I really can't see that happening at any club and certainly not at the PL or FA.
