I agree its the back up striker that's been our Achilles Heel. Graham(Lita/Moore); Michu (Shecter/Moore); Bony (Michu/Ngog) and Bony (Gomis). so when we lose our No1 through injury or sale we are usually left with sub standard. I don't expect us to have 2 top quality strikers but would like there to not be such a gulf in ability gap. Although tbf we have been spoilt with Bony
That's a fair comment mate, but one thing is a definite, Gomis is nowhere near good enough in terms of goals for what we will need next season. We have been lucky our midfield has got a few since Bony departure.
Great performance by the lads yesterday, another 3 points in the bag. It now looks as if we are going to easily pass the 47 point mark and set a new points record for us in the Premiership. Gomis is now starting to fire he was once again superb yesterday, getting better as each game passes. Will be a big asset to us next season.
I presume that Michu will not return next season when his loan stay in Naples comes to an end? The Michu of the first season could be, not only a back-up striker, but possibly the main man. If his "head" and if his ankle were fine, then he could do a job. But........
We would all love to see Michu of two seasons ago returning to the Liberty but seems highly unlikely that this will happen, think we saw him at his best but his form and fitness have sadly alluded him As for Gomis he has to be one of the most frustrating strikers to watch, can't fault his work ethic as he puts in a shift every game but he just hasn't got a strikers instinct particularly at prem level. Reckon we should replace him in the summer if we can, surely there are some prolific strikers that would love to play for us with the chances we create.

Beginning to see what the lads all about, another brilliant performance today. The crowd now starting to support him at last. Let's make him welcome for the rest of the season. As I've said from the start he's a quality player, hopefully he's now starting to win over the doubters as well.
Agree. He's beginning to show what the fuss was about with him. Had, by far, his best game for us today. Needs to keep this level up now for the rest of the season
No player with his track record is as bad as some of our thicker, more petulant fans liked to pretend Gomis was. Excellent striker. Will score plenty with adequate supply.
Always liked Gomis, all season. I think he's got a great touch and now that he's playing regularly with the team they are starting to use him the way he likes to be used. He's on 5 PL goals now, I'd like him to get 4 or 5 more before the end of the season. But no harm if he doesn't, as long as he keeps the performance levels as they are.
I said the same, Big. I confess that my patience had begun to run out in recent games but some of our more stupid fans wailed on him for being lazy and I never understood that. Even when he had a poor game he was never lazy imo. I questioned his finishing skills and Bony was always a difficult act to follow but yesterday he really showed us what he can do. Hope we see more of it before May.
Agree with all of that. Even yesterday some around me were calling him lazy!! As far as I'm concerned the guy doesn't stop. But, to be fair, when he went 17 shots without one being on target fans have a right to question his ability. I'm wondering how poor must Oliviera be not to get a look in? Will we buy a back up striker in the summer or will we be looking for a replacement first choice player?
Well done Sbulby, you spotted something I missed, I felt sure that while he worked hard I thought he was clinically too slow for the finish, but these last few games Gomis has delivered, and delivered well, his confidence was high going into the Hull game but after that acrobatic goal you could see his confidence is now where it should be for our leading striker, very pleased for him and hope he bags more, no better feeling in the game than hitting the back of the net, to get a striker going!..........
I was his biggest critic and still don't think he is what everyone is loving at the moment. But I have to be honest and saw a much better performance on Saturday and was impressed. But one swallow doesn't make a summer, continue the goal scoring till the end of the season and maybe we have something. As for the laziness I agree he is, but not around the pitch its the getting into the six yard box. He will chase defenders round all day, but shows no desire to be in where he can score goals from. The amount of times we get behind defences and he is nowhere near the box is incredible. He works hard on stuff he doesn't need to do but is lazy in and around the goal area. That is of course only my opinion and is probably contrary to most on here. But he is starting to turn me.
....and there's more if you want to look Credit where its due. You stuck by Gomis from day one and told us all, well done Dai.
Bafetimbi Gomis please log in to view this image Bafetimbi Gomis says he will stay with Swansea City next season and has no regrets over moving to the Liberty. The 29-year-old initially struggled for goals after signing from Lyon in the summer of 2014. He said in January that it was "possible" he could leave the club and was linked with a move to other Premier League sides. Swansea v Everton Swansea 7/5 Draw 23/10 Everton 15/8 “There is no European competition but there is no real shortage and I’m happy to have discovered the Premier League after playing in France. Unlike Ligue 1, where there are two of three large clubs, here there are many more great matches. Every game is difficult, and was seen Monday night with Manchester City, who was beaten by Crystal Palace. I want to start next season normally because when I arrived the adjustment was difficult; I lived in a hotel for five months, we had to adapt to a new environment and I didn’t have much playing time. “My teammates helped me adjust and there is a good mentality here. The coach makes sure that the atmosphere is good. He knows the club and the dressing room. Bafetimbi Gomis celebrates his acrobatic goal against Hull with fansBafetimbi Gomis celebrates his acrobatic goal “When you do not play much, as was my case earlier in the season, you have to show the group that one is available, which is a good behaviour. “There is no regret in coming here. There is a culture and a philosophy of play that I like, and for which I signed. I am not mistaken. In football you can not always plan six months ahead but I see myself here next year. “I want to start the new season without any transition period and prepare myself in a good condition.” And while Gomis insists he is not currently thinking about adding to his 12 caps for Didier Deschamps’ France side, he vowed his focus is on proving his class now he has settled at Swansea. “Right now I’m not thinking about Les Bleus,” the Bosman signing said. “I am not selectable. I used to score 20-25 goals per season; here I have five in the Premier League. I must continue to score and impose myself as one of the best strikers in the Premier League, and then we’ll see. If I try one of the best, then it will be possible to think again, to imagine the icing on the cake. “We have seven games left this season but I do not set myself targets in terms of goals. If everyone plays (well), given my position and my confidence right now, I hope I can keep scoring to help the team. We have a goal is to get as many Premier League points in our history.” Maybe that's enough to change the Boards mind on selling him in the summer ,maybe
