Good read. Hadn't read this before. Imagine what the players we have now would get of Keane if he was in charge.

Still think 06/07 was one of the best seasons to be a Sunderland supporter..<ok>

And that's from 1968 being my first match..

I still don't know where or how it went wrong with Keane's regime.

Did he just lose interest? I've forgotten already and it's Easter so I dont want to think too hard.

like all recent SAFC managers, they finish a season on a high, then the next season just never got going and he was gone after the horror show of 1-4 bolton at home.

The whole team didnt want the ball that day, and dean ****ing whitehead was stuck in the middle just having to make back passes all game

loved keane and the impact he had. galvanised us into a team and club with pride and belief again. i wonder how many games we won in the last 10. mins of that championship run as he had the players so fit.

sadly his management style doesn't fit with the modern ego which goes with those playing top flight footie

It was something to do with Ellis Short mate ringing him up and putting him on the spot with certain things i think? Keane said he didn't like it. Short had just took charge that season if i remember right.
I liked Keane and he did a great job...in my opinion.

Like everybody else he came in got us flying but once the initial impact wore off, he was unable to progress us any further.

If Dick relegates us, give him the full time job. We'll try reverse psychology <ok>

Word is Ellis told him to move into the area, Keane threw his toys out and quit.

That's the story I was told as well. Ellis wasn't happy with him living outside the North East and that Keane was only taking training a couple days a week.
