I think the point Col is getting worked up about is that the BBC is publicly funded and, unless I'm wrong, has it written in it's constitution to be neutral and unbiased. Some of it's content is so markedly to the left they may as well broadcast the Daily Mirror and the Guardian and save the country a fortune in licence fees...

It is indeed in the BBC charter that it must be politically unbiased, which is why it is.

Sooper, your explanation as to why you hate the Labour party was, if anything, because they became "New Labour" and morphed into something Tory-like and cared nothing for the average man on the street anymore. I still can't get my head around how, in order to counteract that, you lurch more to the right than "New" Labour instead of sticking to where you were before the Labour's "soul" was lost?

How in the name of God could a lifelong Labour man - when the party was actually left wing as opposed to more recently - suddenly turn into a fu*king Tory???!

Whatever way you were stitched up by the party, your resulting metamorphosis has gone in the total opposite direction to what one would expect. Weird!

I'm not, and never have been, Tory. I was Labour until I became a Union Officer and saw how corrupt those at the top of both Labour and the Unions were, they say all the right things but do much of what they criticise. A perfect example was Miliband's rant yesterday against 'Zero hours contracts', when many Labour MPs employ staff on them as well as many Labour Councils.

I think there are elements of all the parties that are good, sadly, there are also a lot that aren't. The biggest drawback to all political parties is that none of their candidates are allowed to speak what they really think which is why you never get a straight answer from them.

In the end it's the bland leading the bland and I'm unlikely to vote for any of them...

That's the solution if you don't like the red menace at the BBC, place your eyes and/or ears close to one of Murdoch's many charming organs. I read the Times because it has the best app, but remarkably am able to filter out the bias.

If you want to get news from the UK abroad on the TV, Sky is about the only free or cheap option. BBC World is good (or was, don't have it anymore) , but for International news, there wasn't anyway, much UK news on there.

Charles Dunstone, the head of Dixons Carphone is a former Labour supporter. He is quoted to have said recently:
"I speak to Labour people who have been in Government who are horrified by the rhetoric and direction (to the left) of the party. The fact so many people supported New Labour, but are not supporting Milliband's Labour tells the story.

Milliband's Dad was a member of the Communist party and it is well documented that Red Ed is an admirer of many of his Father's beliefs.

Tony Blair said back in 2014 that Milliband was "too left wing to win the election".

The SNP are anti austerity in the same manor as the left wing Government in France. They are also in favour of unilateral nuclear disarmament (absolutely crazy in this unpredictable world) which is a left wing policy too.

Either all the others are reading an auto cue or the Greens bird was the only one to keep looking down at notes for her opening address.

It's all very sterile and pre-rehearsed, isn't it?

It's freeing up a bit now. Milliband seems a little patronising to me.

    Farage is a good debater.
I think Milliband is doing a decent job of attacking Cameron, who, in turn, is doing a pretty good job of rebuffing him.

The Liberals are right to concentrate on more funding for mental health. This is an area that has been criminally under-funded for far too long!

They're talking immigration after the break.
Prepare for Farage to get shouted down at every turn for daring to debate about this subject.

Halftime in the debate and I think the Green's leader hasn't done too badly, shame all her proposals would cost gazillions. Cameron and Miliband about level, Farage seems very confident and well-briefed...
