Right dear foxes, nicky Maynard has clearly told Keith Millen he wants to stay.all across our website and local papers. So twaddle off and spend your 5 million plus else where .nicky Maynard will not be joining LCFC. let's put this to bed now.
I wont be too bothered if your right, he isnt worth 5 mil in my opinion, and have to say i admire your chairman for sticking to his guns, and not just taking the money, specially with your losses of last season, and projected losses for the coming season. Fair play to him, i just hope maynard dosn't walk on a free at the end of next season, as i think his stance, and principles deserve better than that
Why not just add this to one of the threads below?? You do realise there is public access to the offical Bristol City and local rag websites; so it only takes a couple of clicks to see the above isn't actually true, no matter how many smilies you use ol' chum!
Look on main site under Weekend press talk Here it is Bristol City have agreed a six-figure compensation fee with Rotherham United for Ryan Taylor. A free agent after the expiry of his Millers contract, the 23-year-old forward joined the Championship club on a three-year deal last month. Because he is aged under 24, City are obliged to pay the League Two outfit compensation. A package has now been agreed and it is understood Rotherham will pocket close to £300,000. But a significant percentage of that outlay will be covered by the money City will receive for former Republic of Ireland Under-21 goalkeeper Stephen Henderson, who joined Championship rivals Portsmouth last week after rejecting a new City deal.Bristol Evening Post Leicester City may lodge a fourth bid for striker Nicky Maynard - despite Bristol City's insistence that he is not for sale at any price. Manager Sven-Goran Eriksson is being heavily backed by the club's Thai owners and may consider upping the offer to £5 million which could tip the balance their way. City have made three bids to land the 24-year-old striker, the latest totalling £4.75m including add-ons. The player, however, has assured Bristol City manager Keith Millen he wants to stay.Leicester Mercury
Its not plastered everywhere but there is a small mention of it here tbh http://www.bcfc.co.uk/page/WTPSDetail/0,,10327~2386771,00.html
This is hearsay, read the original article from the Leicester Mercury it is 'from a source close to the club'...dear oh dear. Conveniently, this information was missed out of the article when it was regurgitated on the BCFC website.
Red Robin - You'd better hope this is true or you'll have it rammed down your throat - Just one thing springs to mind, if he's staying, why hasn't he signed the new contract that was offered to him last season - Old chum
The mercury said we has signing Craig Mackail-Smith and we didnt BRISTOL CITY have rejected Leicester's £4.75million offer for striker Nicky Maynard. But City manager Keith Millen fears that Sven Goran Eriksson's Foxes will be back with an improved bid. Cash-strapped Robins may not be able to resist £5m for Maynard, 24, who is in the final year of his deal. Millen said: "We want to keep Nicky because he's an important player for us." This is from the Sun, if we offer 5M you chairman as a business man will relise this is a fantasic offer to you and accept it. He can work away for nothing next season and wont have the money to get a decent replacement
This looks more like wishful thinking than anything else from our red, yokel friends. I've seen this situation a 1000 times with various people at various clubs and one thing stands out as self evident... a quote in public would end it all. A question fellow foxes...do we only want him to wind Bristol up?
I think if by the 1st August if Maynard is still at Bristol and hasnt signed a new deal then i think he would pretty much on the transfer list.
Not sure it would work Stourbridge, as if we do sign him, in a similar manner to Mills, he will have gone from one of the best players in the league to a money grabbing, over-rated bar steward. It makes me chuckle that if a club does pay over the odds for a player, some fans of other teams think this somehow makes him a worse player!!! If you play £1m for Messa or £100m, he will still have the same amount of talent (cue, other fans claiming I think we can sign Messa). What is even more laughable is fans of other clubs think it will wind us up to say our owners overpaid for Mills, £1M, £5m, £10M, I don't care, it's not my moneyand it's not a debt against the club!!!
To original poster.... Source or not true! But tbh, if Maynard turns around after it has been posted that offers are being rejected, Robins would hate him forever
Celebrating your club shooting its self in the foot, great....hand on heart he knows and you know your not going up, the lad obviously wants any easy life, nothing wrong with that.........im relieved if true.....i have my doubts about his long term fitness......now i hope we can consentrate on getting the "real deal" in....please can we move on?
Incidentally I heard Carlton Cole is going for £4.5m and he has a goal ratio of 1 in 5.02 mostly in the PL or for the U21's and has been capped by England 7 times. Maynard has an average of 1 in 2.34 but mainly in League 1 and the Champo, has never played in the PL, never played for England at any level, has just recovered from a serious knee injury and only has one year left on his contract so seriously so how can he be worth more than Cole? I'm not saying I want Cole but it puts the price tag into perspective!!
Believe me money talks he will sign for Leicester whatever he says surely you must be a good bet to win then league then although last year a certain Boro WERE STRONG FAVOURITES
