Anyway back on topic, imo Barnes should have waited until he had irrefutable proof of his accusation before going public with it, like on any subject people will have differing views and I'll stick by mine that its impossible that everyone within the game of football in this country is not racially motivated in any way, that makes Barnes 50% correct with his claims but unless and until he proves in his personal experience he's been refused work because of his colour the other 50% will always be open to snipers and doubter's.

I have never said everyone or anyone has a racist agenda and if that's what you've seen in my posts, then you've seen something that isn't there which is a good trick, a bit like people saying they know what you think!

I was under the impression that he didn't want a job at that time TBH. He was asked about it often enough and he never showed any signs of wanting to get back into management.

 

His failure at Celtic contributed immensely to his inability to get another high profile job.
Maybe, Kenny Dalglish should have given him more supervision, knowing that he was not
experienced in that field?.

 

Dalglish was in charge for the last 16 games, 5 of which they lost!

He applied for 6 jobs in the year following his sacking - according to him in a documentary a few years back.

 

Fair enough, still doesn't take away the disgraceful act of blaming race though

To be fair Page he was asked the question directly and gave an honest answer based on his experience. As you and JB have already acknowledeged getting irrefutable proof is impossible. Also, it's not as if he's on the telly every day saying "I can't get a job because I'm black".

You can't possibly say 'a disgraceful act of blaming race' when you have no idea of whether there was a racial element or not - you just can't. Equally I can't claim there was a racial element which is why I haven't. The difference in our stances is that I allow for the possibility there may have been.

In the op I asked a question to open up debate but what's followed has been mostly Barnes bashing and when I said ''Going by some of the comments on here I'd say that racism is going to be with us for some time." what I meant was, by not allowing for the possibility that race may have or still does play a part, getting rid of racism will be harder. If Bod had of asked a question instead of flinging accusations he would have got this explanation.

 

You are seriously questioning why the sentence 'Going by some of the comments on here I'd say that racism is going to be with us for some time." could be construed as you meaning some of the comments on here have been in support of racism.
If thats not what you meant, then i apologise, and I probably should have asked first, but surely you can see how it could be interpreted that way?
I take it you meant that no one on here is prepared to accept that Barnes is being held back by race and fight against it? If so, then that is basically you saying you think Barnes' is correct and that he IS being held back by the fact he is black? I will ask first before I accuse

 

Well if this had happened before he got any of his jobs i would give him the benefit of the doubt. After his poor showing at Celtic i'm inclined to believe its more sour grapes. I'm not saying its not impossible that he's been prejudiced against because of his colour just as you are saying its not definitely racism thats been preventing him getting a job. We have chosen to believe based upon the facts that have been presented. Unfortunately, without going into the minds of Barnes and whichever clubs he applied for (or knowing more evidence) then we choose to believe he's just being bitter.

It's not just non LFC fans thinking Barnes is a bad manager and clubs are right not to hire him before he proves himself in maybe a lower capacity (such as coach etc) but others like Gerrez and Mito and co
