Our Father who art in heaven, Allam be thy name. Thy Name Change come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. For the KC, the power, and the glory are yours now and for ever. Amen.
We didn't push the membership of CTWD. We didn't need to. We showed opposition to the name change in others ways. For example the number of people who bothered to fill in the postcards and send them to the FA.
Sorry but I seem to remember being accosted week after week after week last season on and around the East Stand railway bridge by people trying to persuade fans to join the CTWD organisation. So that simply isn't true. In any case if fans are as passionate about the name change as you claim surely you shouldn't need to "push it". Surely you would be inundated with people wanting to join the unified pressure group?
Not everybody who's against a name change feels moved to become a paid up member of a campaign group, the numbers who support the campaign on social media and who signed the petition are obviously way higher as it takes less effort, our Twitter account has over 7,700 followers. The trust is in it's infancy, it has to prove it's worth over time, but we're exceptionally happy with the numbers so far(our initial target was 500 members), it's far more difficult to get people to pay to join a trust than it is a campaign group. Yes To Hull Tigers have 55 likes on Facebook and 5 followers on Twitter, whatever measure you use, the majority are shown to be against the name change.
I'm accosted regularly by people from political parties, especially now, does that mean if I ignore them that I don't agree with any of them? Do I have to be a member to have a strong opinion on their policies? If I don't join them I don't care?
We handed out badges and leaflets. We sold scarves. We also asked people to sign the flag. We didn't have volunteers handing out application forms or collecting membership dues. The only application forms we handed out were at the meeting at the Lair when we had a facility for collecting cash/cheques for CTWD membership. People show passion in different ways. Some join, some don't. That's life. We did enough to persuade the FA to vote no. The campaign was successful. We achieved our objective and that's all you can ask of any organisation. Assem Allam has had to put in another application and hopefully we'll be as successful the second time around.
Seriously, this is a total crock of ****e. Allam bought the club because he saw a fantastic commercial opportunity in it and the surrounding land. He assumed he would be given the freehold for nothing or, at best, a peppercorn sum. He had to move fast and he made mistakes in accounting for all of the debt (well documented) and he made a huge mistake in second-guessing HCC. Maintaining the status of HCAFC was purely coincidental to his true aim - financial gain. He has tried to use his takeover to make him appear as the City's (not Hull City's - bigger than that!!) benefactor, as a charitable man who does it for others. Now, does someone want to discuss the loans, the interest, the conniving, the insults, the lies, the name-change nonsense, all of the crap that we have to live with as a condition of the liar's on-going hypocrisy and dishonesty; if you do I'll catch up later as I have a beer festival to go to. I agree, it is pathetic to call what he did 'good', as it was a really badly thought through, self-serving commercial enterprise. He got it wrong, big-style.
So now you are claiming the man is not charitable? Wow! As for the rest of it, well God damn Assem Allam for being a businessman. Heaven knows we wouldn't want the Club to be run by one of those.
You're both on about the same thing, and if I recall correctly leaflets were handed out on two occasions, and it was before CTWD even had a membership scheme. But the important thing is as OLM said, people don't join groups. Look how many members a political party has compared to voters, and again compared to how many people just agree with them from a distance. When a campaign group has a lot more members than the club's official membership scheme, that suggests its pretty popular.
The man has made charitable donations and should be applauded for it. How do we know he's given money? Because he's told us. Many people give to charity, many rich and famous people do it anonymously or on the condition that their name isn't given out. When you have so much money that an odd million or two doesn't matter, why does he feel the need to tell everyone?
Yes your claims of mass support are well documented even if your stats are unverifiable and would be easily 'massaged'. The point is, I think it astounding that with such MASS, passionate backing that you only have such a small number willing to actually support you.
The clubs official membership scheme is season tickets. CTWD got absolutely no where near that. If you mean the OSC we both know who that is aimed at and the type of people who join it. It is what it is, it provides what it's members want and they're all happy with it.
I'm 100 percent against the name change and support the trust totally. I haven't joined yet though, I will today after work I think. There must be loads like me.
You keep peddling this "whatever measure you use..." rubbish, but how about the measure of the vast majority of fans who haven't responded to any of these petitions/social media forums on account of the fact that they are not at all bothered by this proposed name change proposal? You seem to keep conveniently ignoring this vast majority!
Russell Bartlett was a businessman. The SMC is in the red to the tune of £6 million. Assem Allam has to either get the Council to take on those debts or increase the SMC's income. He can only do that by increasing the rent Hull City AFC pays. Oh, any structural repairs to the KC are now his responsibility.
Pretty much every I know is against the name change, but they're not members of the trust, even my own kids haven't signed up yet, the lazy sods.
